“CALL IT OFF!”... Lip Gallagher stormed into the room, his voice trembling with anger. “Call it off, the whole thing's a joke!”
“Malakai, Donny, get him out of here,” Paddy Maguire barked at his sons, his words laced with venom.
“The baby's mine,” Lip uttered softly, his voice barely a whisper. “I'm sorry...I should have told you, Ian.” At those words, a collective gasp rippled through the room.
Kodi stumbled out of the jockey, Malakai sprinting after her. “You bastard!” Ian Gallagher roared, charging at his brother.
Malakai caught up with Kodi and sat her down at the table away from everyone else, still faintly hearing the fight. “Kodi, stop, sit” he pleaded with venom in his voice.
“Lip and Mandy,” Kodi asked, her eyes wide with confusion. “Did you know?”
“I had suspensions,” Malakai admitted. “I told Mandy to be careful with this—” She cut him off with a stinging slap to the face. The anger in her eyes made Malakai's blood run cold. As she raised her hand to strike again, Malakai seized her arm.
“I wouldn't do that again, if I was you, princess,” he threatened, his voice dripping with malice. Kodi nodded, her eyes full of fear. “And I don't want to hurt you, Kodi..” Kodi turns her face and sees Lip run out of the jockey
“You're not going?” he said with a dangerous glint in his eyes.
“I have to see if he's okay.”
“You think I care? You walk away and go see him, I'll kill him, I'll break his bone” Malakai threatened “
The family heard Malakai's voice and watched nervously. “You walk away, we're over,” Malakai said to her.
Kodi froze. “What?”
Kevin her father stepped forward. “Best thing I've heard,” he said. “Let's go, Kodi.”
She hesitated for a moment..
should she walk with her father or should she chose her now husband?
“You heard my son,” Paddy Maguire said. “You walk out... he'll kill him. But me... Kevin, I'll kill you” Kevin swallowed hard.
“You knew what you were getting into when you married my son,” Paddy continued. “Now it's a test of loyalty. Are you going to choose a Gallagher or us?”
“Choose wisely Kodi, I'm this close to beaten Gallagher to a fucking pulp?”
Kodi looked at her father and mouthed a silent apology. Kevin's eyes begged her not to go, but she turned and grabbed malakai's hand.
“Kodi,” Kevin whispered.
“I'm sorry,” she said, her voice heavy with regret.
