Kierra's POV:
I've never felt this before. I feel strong, invincible even. I feel as if nothing can touch me. And if this was an after effect of my coma, thank the lord. I'm speaking again and the weakness and brokeness I'd felt for so long had taken it's leave. This could be a new start. After sending away Austin, Amelia turned to me and asked me to stand. I stood but when my eyes met the ones in the mirror I was filled with shock. This couldn't be me.
"Yes dear you have gone through quite a few changes. It seems your true self was awoken and could not surface due to the powerful damper placed on you, and if my suspicions are correct I believe that was the root of your muteness." Amelia
explained.I just stared at my reflection. Amelia gave me a change of clothes and then left me without another word.
I changed and showered but I felt so cut off and devoid of really anything, I didn't feel guilt or sorrow or the weight of anything weighing on my shoulders. In fact I was fascinated. My heart no longer ached and I felt free.
I returned to the mirror. I examined my appearance. My features we're sharper and my limbs were willowy. My face looked like it belonged to a porcelain doll and my eyes were narrower and shockingly violet colored. All in all I looked like a foreign alien.
Bored with that I left the confinements of the medical room and began to explore. As I wandered aimlessly I heard the shuffling of feet and whispering voices. Quickly, not wanting to be caught I slipped into the closest room. Scanning my surroundings I realized I had found some sort of exercise room. Luckily I was already wearing a sports bra and jogging pants and since I had nothing better to do I started jogging on one of the treadmills.
I amped up the speed settings as fast as it would go, wanting to see how far I could push myself. It was exhilarating. I'd never been a person that would exercise since my asthma had restricted that since childhood, but this was great. The sweat trickled between my shoulder blades and rolled off my forehead. I felt like I could run forever. But then the door slammed closed and a dejected Austin was startled by me. He strode over and turned my machine off.
Raged boiled in my veins. How dare he. I stopped and turned and punched him in the jaw. He landed on his butt. I leaned down as he rubbed his jaw and said "Do it again and you'll regret it" with a satisfied smirk I left the exercise room, Austin staring dumfounded.
