After art class, Sadie and I walked to class together. We went to our lockers.
Sadie grabbed her biology textbook and said, "Bye, girl. See you at the break.''
"See you", I said.
I opened my locker to grab my English textbook and closed it, and that's when my ex-boyfriend Chris Adams approached me with his stupid charm and glory like he was so almighty.
"Hey, beautiful, or should I say soon-to-be my girlfriend again?" Chris said.
"Go away, Chris," I said with annoyance.
I held my textbook and walked away, but he grabbed me by my wrist.
"Come on, baby, I want you back," He said.
"Let go of me", I said.
I tried with all my might and strength to release myself from his grip, but he wouldn't let go. Then suddenly, the new guy, Usiku, came to my rescue.
"Leave her alone", He said.
"What?" Said Chris.
"You heard me; I said leave her alone," Usiku said.
"Who the fuck do you think you're talking to" Chris spat out of anger and wrath in his voice, "don't you know who I am? I am Chris Adams, the ruler of this school, and I am the most popular guy.
"And also a total asshole who likes bothering girls like this beautiful girl here," Usiku says, looking at me.
"Did he just call me beautiful?" I asked myself.
"And it seems obvious that she doesn't want to get with you, so just leave her alone," Usiku said in his voice.
Chris gave out an angry hoof and stormed off to class.
"Are you okay?" Usiku asked.
"Yes," I said.
I massaged my wrist to smooth out the pain that Chris put. Usiku takes my wrist, examines it, and smoothes it for me. Then something incredible happens. We looked into each other's eyes, and as we gazed deep into each other's eyes, I could swear I felt a spark between us that made me feel a strange connection with him. T's connection was unlike any other connection I have experienced with my romantic partners. We got back to reality.
"I'm Usiku, by the way," Usiku said.
His energy is so beautiful and vibrant that I want to dance my heart out. His aura had an essence to my interest.
"I'm assuming your name is Raya," He said.
"Yes," I said surprised.
How does he know my name?'' I asked myself.
Who is this mysterious guy?
And why was I suddenly developing feelings for him?
And why do I feel like I've known him before?
"Would you like to walk to class together?'' He said, "I have ERWC with Mrs. Cooley too.''
"Sure," I said.
"Thank you for saving my life over there," I said.
He turns to me and gives me a genuine smile.
"You're welcome", He said.
And so we walked together and talked on the way to class.
We arrived there on time for class. We sat in our assigned seats. The late bell rang. The class had begun. After class, Usiku and I walked with her. It was nice walking with him. Then suddenly, I noticed that the color of his eyes changed.
"Do you wear eye contact?'' I asked.
He turns around and looks at me with seriousness.
"Why?"Usiku asked.
"Because your eyes were golden yellow, and now they're black," I said.
After saying that, Usiku looked at me with worry and walked away without saying a word. It was as if he was hiding something. It seemed like there was something he wasn't telling me—I went to my next class, which was economics. After class, I went to my next class, which was biology. After class, I had music class; after class, it was now lunchtime. I went in line to get food. I got a tuna sandwich with apple slices and carrots. I went to sit with my friends Sadie, Samantha, and Kailiah(Sadie's younger sister/BFF) at the stone bench where the trees and grass were. I saw Usiku and his siblings sitting on the rocks under the tree. He had two twin sisters, who were sophomores, and two brothers, one who was a junior and one who was a freshman. I remember him telling me that he had siblings while we were walking to class together. His siblings are named Aisha, Rafina(Twins), Jyler, and Ty. I ate my lunch and read my book called Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe by Benjamin Alire Saenz.

As I was reading, I began staring at Usiku. I couldn't stop thinking about how charming he was. how heroic and polite he was. And yet so smart. He was making me feel these feelings. These feelings of falling in love. Usiku stared back at me and I immediately looked away. After lunch was over, the bell rang. It was time for me to go to my next class. I hugged my friends goodbye and went to class which was study skills. I went inside the classroom.
"Hi, Raya'', Said Mrs. Hansen.
"Hi, Mrs. Hansen'', I said.
I sat in my seat and got out some classwork to work on from any of my classes. After that, I went to my next class which was biology. After school was over, it was 2:32 pm, and I wanted to stay a bit longer, so I decided to do that. I settled myself on the grass and read my book for 20 to 30 minutes. It was now 3:00 pm and I put my book in my backpack and met up with Sadie and Kailiah. Samantha had to go home to take the bus.
"Hey, Raya'', They said.
"Hi'', I said to them.
We walked home from school together. We started talking to each other about boys and what's been happening at school today. After that, I said bye to my friends and we separated from each other. I arrived home.
"Mom, I'm home", I said.
"Hi, daughter, how was school?''Mom said.
"It was good'', I said.
"That's good", She said.
She was in the kitchen putting groceries away she had brought for tonight's dinner. I went upstairs to my room and sat on my bed to do my economics homework.
