Setting: Modern-day Desierto in the Continent of Ishgar
The territory that would eventually become the nation of Desierto was originally home to a community that revered a pantheon of Egyptian gods, focusing their devotion on Ra, Mut, and Nut. The dominion and sway of ancient Egypt were vast, stretching all the way to what is now known as Iceberg. It was in this age that a young boy named Ahmed came into a world that demanded rapid maturation. Orphaned and alone on the streets of Alexandria, the heart of an age-old realm, Ahmed was compelled to survive on his own.
Despite his challenging circumstances, Ahmed eventually reached the age of six, the age at which children typically began their educational journey. It was during this time that he was discovered by a priest and taken in by the Egyptian state. The state recognized the potential in Ahmed and decided to take him in and provide him with an education.
Being raised within the Egyptian establishment, Ahmed was exposed to the teachings of the Egyptian deities. He was taught about the rich history and mythology of ancient Egypt, including the stories surrounding Ra, Mut, and Nut. The teachings of these deities formed the foundation of his understanding and belief in the power of the divine. He was also taught how to fight battles and win as decisive a victory as possible for the Egyptian state.
As Ahmed grew older, he found himself drawn to the power and influence that emanated from ancient Egypt. He recognized the greatness and achievements of the pharaohs who ruled the land and admired their connection to the divine. Ahmed aspired to follow in the footsteps of these pharaohs and become instrumental in the expanding realm of Egyptian power.
In this chapter, we will explore the journey of Ahmed, the young boy from the streets of Alexandria, as he navigates the complexities of ancient Egypt. We will witness his growth as he gains knowledge and is shaped by the experiences he has along the way. This chapter is not solely about ancient Egypt, but rather about a young boy who was raised by the Egyptian state and destined to become part of its rich history. It was thanks to him that the kingdom which precedes Desierto in its history expanded its reach all over the continent of Ishgar and beyond. His legacy can still be seen today in the cities, monuments, and artifacts that are left behind. He has become a symbol of strength and courage, inspiring generations to strive for greatness. He has become a symbol of hope for those who come after him.
Ahmed's contemporary Pharaoh who adopted him as his own heir was Rameses I, widely loved as a warrior king who expanded the kingdom's borders north to a lake it shares with a rival kingdom to the north called the Hittite Kingdom. Under Rameses' guidance, Ahmed as a teenager learned military tactics popular among Rameses' generals and high-ranked commanding officers of the army and the navy.
However, it is important to note that Ahmed was not immediately chosen to succeed his caretaker should Rameses pass away prematurely. The next in line for the throne after Rameses I, his half-cousin and nephew, was Rameses II. While Ahmed may have initially been disappointed that he was not the first choice, he ultimately decided that he preferred military service over politics.
