*Aidoneus (Hades)*

The sight of Kore being forcibly pulled away from me, ensnared by the very vines that once threatened my own life, sent a shiver down my spine. I watched helplessly as she pleaded with her mother, her eyes filled with both pain and desperation.

"Stay away from my daughter, you creep!" Demeter's voice echoed with a chilling intensity, her words a stark reminder of the formidable power she wielded. Despite the discomfort inflicted by the tightening vines, Kore's plea for my release only added to the turmoil brewing within me.

"Demy, it has been a long time," I spoke, attempting to maintain a calm demeanor despite the fear gnawing at my insides. The vines constricted around my neck, making it difficult to breathe, but I refused to show any weakness in the face of Demeter's wrath.

"What were you doing to my daughter?" Demeter's voice sliced through the air like a blade, carrying with it a potent mixture of fury and accusation. Her grip tightened around Kore's shoulders, her fingers digging into the flesh with a vice-like strength. I could see the fear in Kore's eyes, her struggles against the vines growing more frantic with each passing moment.

In response to Demeter's question, the vines writhed and coiled around Kore's face, silencing her before she could utter a word. Anger boiled within me at the sight of Kore's helplessness, but I knew that losing my temper now would only escalate the situation further.

"Let her go. She did nothing wrong," I interjected, my voice a low, rumbling growl that carried the weight of authority. I met Demeter's gaze with a steely resolve, refusing to back down in the face of her fury.

Demeter's eyes blazed with a righteous indignation, her rage simmering just beneath the surface. It was a familiar sight, one that I had witnessed countless times before in our tumultuous encounters. But this time, there was something different in her demeanor – a cold, unyielding determination that sent a shiver down my spine.

As the tension between us reached a fever pitch, I felt a surge of power coursing through me, an instinctual response to the threat posed by Demeter's wrath. With a swift, decisive motion, I summoned the dark energies of the underworld, enveloping the writhing vines in a cloak of shadowy flames.

The air crackled with tension as the flames consumed the vines, their smoldering tendrils casting eerie shadows against the dim light of the moon. It was a bold display of power, a declaration of my unwavering commitment to protect Kore at all costs.

"Let her go," I demanded, my voice carrying the weight of authority, each word laced with an unyielding determination. The vines recoiled as if scalded, loosening their grip on Kore's trembling form. As their hold weakened, I could sense the tension in the air easing, replaced by a palpable sense of relief.

With a flicker of uncertainty in her eyes, Demeter reluctantly released her grasp on Kore, allowing her to step forward, free from the suffocating embrace of the vines. As the last of the shadows dissipated, I took a step closer, my gaze unwavering as I addressed Demeter.

"Now, will you listen to her?" I questioned, my tone measured but firm, a silent plea for reason amidst the chaos. It was a moment fraught with tension, the outcome hanging precariously in the balance as we stood on the brink of confrontation.

For a fleeting instant, there was a flicker of hesitation in Demeter's eyes, a silent acknowledgment of the gravity of the situation. But then, with a defiant tilt of her chin, she squared her shoulders, her expression hardening into a mask of steely resolve.

"I will hear what she has to say," Demeter conceded, her voice tinged with a begrudging reluctance. It was a small victory, but one that offered a glimmer of hope amidst the turmoil that threatened to engulf us.
