Soraya's POV

The siren blares, signaling the end of the school day. Students hurry out of the classroom, some lingering to gossip while others, especially the girls, engage in a full-on dress-up and makeover session.

I quickly pack my books, preparing to leave.

"Hey, Natalie mentioned you're going over to Nathan's for your project," Henry says as he packs up his things.

"Yeah," I reply. "I guess I'll go with Natalie, then."

"But they don't live together," Henry points out.

"Oh, I had no idea," I say. Just then, Natalie shows up.

"Hey guys," she waves at us both. "Ready to go see my brother?" she asks, and I nod.

"Henry just told me you guys don't stay together. I thought we were going to go together," I reveal.

"Yes girl. Sorry I didn't tell you earlier."

I was curious about why they didn't stay together and wanted to ask, but I didn't want to offend Natalie, knowing how sensitive she can be about certain topics.

"That's okay. You can just give me the address and I'll get a cab," I say. Natalie sends the address and lets me know she has informed Nathan and her mom that I'll be coming, so I shouldn't worry. She then waves goodbye and tells me her driver is in. We share a hug before she leaves. Henry also has to go, so we share a hug as well before he heads out.

I leave the school premises and stand outside to hail a taxi since all the Uber cars are busy on the app. Suddenly, a black honda accord exits the school and stops right where I'm standing. The tinted glass window of the car rolls down, and I see Micah in it.

"Need a ride?" he offers.

"No thanks," I say.

"Come on Soraya. I think we are heading in the same direction," he insists.

"And how do you know that?" I ask.

"Just get in. I'll alight you wherever you want," he says.

Contemplating on whether to join him or not, I decide to accept his offer. At least I won't have to pay for a cab, and I can use that money for something better. I open the door to his car and sit, putting on my seatbelt.

"Isn't it illegal to be driving?" I question Micah, who is bopping his head to some loud hip hop music.

"I turned eighteen couple months ago, so it's not illegal ma'am," he answers which I nod to.

"So where are you headed?" he ask.

"Uh..." I look at my phone to be sure of the address again. "Lighthouse Luxury Apartments," I respond.

"You stay there? Or you're going to Nathan's?"

"Wait, how did you know?" I ask.

"How did I know if you stay there or if you're going to Nathan's?"

I chuckle at his silliness. "I do not stay there. I'm going to Nathan's for our English project. Did Miss Stacy give you guys a project too?"

"Yup, but we have until next week to submit," he says.

"Lucky you."

"Do you really have to go to his house for the project though?" Micah questions, glancing at me.

"Well I don't have choice. He sprained his ankle and can barely walk."
