Soraya's POV

I seriously can't believe the weekend is over. It felt like it passed in just two minutes if I'm being honest. I get ready for school as fast as I can, and fortunately, mom is driving me today, so I don't have to see unexpected people on the bus.

I head to my first class and take a seat next to Henry who's fast asleep. Luckily for him, the teacher hasn't arrived yet. I give him a gentle tap, and he wakes up yawning.

"What were you doing all night that has you sleeping in class?" I ask.

"Games night," he says in his sleepy voice and lays his head back down on the desk. I shake my head and look through my bag pack for my books. I glance over at Nathan's seat but it's empty. I turn to Natalie's spot, which is also empty.

"Where are the twins?" I ask Henry, but he just shrugs, already dozing off again.

"Oh, there they are," I say, as both of them walk quietly to their seats. I wave Natalie, and she slightly smiles at me in return. Nathan, on the other hand, doesn't even look my way. He seems a bit angry from his expression.

I tap Henry's shoulder to wake him up because our strict English teacher, Miss Stacy, has entered the class. He quickly straightens to avoid getting into trouble.

It's biology we have though.

"Hello, dear students," Miss Stacy greets."

"Good morning ma'am," we all respond in unison.

"Before you start telling me how you have biology this morning, I already spoke to your teacher about it, and he'll take over my afternoon class," she says, getting straight to the point.

"How was your weekend?" she asks the class, gesturing one of the students to move her chair to the front. She sits down with a relaxed smile.

"Looks like she's in a good mood today," Henry whispers, and I nod in agreement.

"Some of our classmates respond to her question, and she nods along. "Well, I also had the best weekend of my life," she says, raising her hand to show off her sparkling diamond ring. "I'm engaged!" she announces with a beaming smile.

The class erupts in cheers and applause, offering congratulations and kind words.

"Thank you, thank you," she responds warmly.

"Melody, please help me keep track of the time. I'll use the first hour for teaching, and the remaining thirty minutes for a project I have planned for you all," she instructs, and Melody obeys.

After an hour-long lesson on clauses and phrases, Miss Stacy starts talking about the group project. "So, this is a group assignment. To make this interesting, I need the boys to write down their names on a piece of paper, fold it and place it in this bowl. Then the girls will each pick a name. Whoever you choose will be your partner for this project."

"Okay, let's get started." We follow her instructions, the boys scribbling their names on the paper and tossing them into the bowl.

Henry leans over to me. "Looks like you're the one doing the picking," he says, and I nod.

"Lord, please don't let my name land in the hands of Melody," Henry prays, clasping his hands together.

I let out a laugh and say an "Amen" for him. When it's my turn, I walk up, reach to the bowl, and pick a paper at random, then return to my seat. Miss Stacy has already informed us not to open our picks until everyone has finished, to avoid unnecessary noise. Once the last girl has made her choice, she gives us the go ahead to open the papers.
