Chapter 7

{Jake}

I saw Taehyun and Beomgyu leave, so it was just me, Soobin, and Ni-ki left... with Heeseung.

I looked at Heeseung until he walked out of the room, he looked... tired. As if he hadn't slept for days. I continued staring at him until Soobin called out my name.

"Jake! Pay attention!" Soobin yelled, noticing that I wasn't paying attention.

"Ah, sorry." I apologized and tried to focus on what they were saying. But then, Heeseung kept popping up in my mind.

Soobin sighed. "Jake, please. We don't have all day for this."

I nod. "I know, but something has been on my mind lately." I look up at them.

"It's Heeseung, isn't it?" Ni-ki asked, raising an eyebrow.

My cheeks flushed a little. "Maybe," I muttered, avoiding Ni-ki's gaze. It felt a bit weird admitting to myself, let alone my two closest friends.

Soobin and Ni-ki both looked at each other, seeming confused, before turning back to me. "What about him, Jake?" Soobin asked.

I hesitate, fidgeting with the hem of my shirt. "I don't know... It's almost like he's stressed and he doesn't want to talk about it."

"Stressed? Heeseung?" Ni-ki scoffed, a disbelieving laugh coming from his mouth. "He's like a robot, nothing can stop him. And plus, he wouldn't know stress if it slapped him in the face."

Soobin nudged Ni-ki with his elbow. "Don't be mean, Ni-ki. Maybe Jake has a point."

Ni-ki crossed his arms and rolled his eyes. "Sure. Are you sure it's not just a feeling?"

"It could be..." I admitted. "But something about him seems so off today. He seemed so distant... He's usually not like that around me."

Ni-ki still looked a bit unconvinced. "Maybe it's because he didn't get enough sleep. Or it's probably because he's a workaholic." He shrugged "Shouldn't be surprising."

"There's a difference between a workaholic and being burnt out, Ni-ki." Soobin intervened, seeming annoyed with his stupidity. "Maybe something else is going on with him."

I suddenly got an idea. "Guys. I have an idea." Both of them turn to face me. "Do you guys think..." I trailed off, hesitant to even think about it.

"Think what?" Soobin asked, leaning forward in anticipation.

"Do you guys think that Heeseung..." I swallowed hard, words catching in my throat.

"Just spit it out, Jake. We don't have all day." Ni-ki said impatiently.

After calming down, I took a deep breath. "Do you guys think that Heeseung is a vampire?" I blurted out.

Ni-ki and Soobin both looked at me in shock.

Ni-ki snorted. "Come again?" He joked, trying to hold in his laugh. "Heeseung? Your doctor? A vampire?"

"Just think about it. Vampires love blood and hospitals usually have blood. Earlier today, doctors said that the blood supply is almost out. Plus, Heeseung... does look like a vampire if you think about it."

"That does kind of make sense... Maybe you have a point." Soobin nodded, thinking hard about this.

"Well, what are you gonna do about this?" Ni-ki asked in anticipation.

"I'm gonna find more information about Heeseung."

"How?"

"We'll find that out soon enough."
