Chapter 11

So... He wants to know what I've been up to, huh?

Hm...

Let's save that part for later.

I quietly shut the door, trying to be as silent as possible so I won't wake him up. I walk- no, I sprint out the door and enter my car, checking the time. "12:04, perfect. Right on time." I exclaim, backing up my car out of the parking lot and driving away.

"I hate working at that damn hospital." I mumble, looking straight out the windscreen. The streets are oddly quiet, despite everyone working late due to the sudden rumors of vampires. Other than that, I like the silence, calms me down. I was thinking of the hospital, but then...

Jake.

The only positive thing there.

Well, besides the blood.

I chuckle to myself, "I guess it's not as bad as I think it is." I say as I smile at myself, still driving to my house. Wait- what did I just say? "I hope my mind is playing tricks on me and didn't actually mean it." I mutter, my expression looking tired and bored again.

Well, turns out... my mind wasn't playing tricks on me.

Why was he so worried about me? Why does he care? Why isn't he getting out of my head? His voice, his eyes, his hair, his lips- Forget it. Just focus on getting home.

As I approach my house, I slowly park my car and get out. I muttered a silent "Finally" while locking the car door and entering the house. "Hey, I'm home."

Footsteps are heard near the stairs as they run down. "Oh my gosh, finally! It took you so long just to get out of that damn hospital." The younger boy with blonde hair says, sort of in a relieved voice.

"Yeah, I know. You should head to bed, Sunoo." I yawn, patting his head before hanging my coat on the rack. I turn around to see his pouty expression at me as he crosses his arms.

He scoffs, "I'm not that tired!" He claims, burying himself in Sunghoon's hoodie. "You know I'm barely tired these days!"

I reach out for a glass of water and I gulp it down while nodding. "Yes, I know. But at least try, it's not healthy for you to stay up late."

"Okay, fine. Good night, Heeseung."

"Night Sunoo."

I toss and turn myself in bed, unable to sleep. "Why does he keep popping up in my head?" I groan, grabbing a pillow and placing it on top of my head. I hear bed sheets shuffling, assuming that Yeonjun is awake.

"Dude! Go to sleep! You've been awake for so long, I'm not even gonna be surprised if you forgot how!" Yeonjun whines, turning so he's facing the wall. "You have a big day tomorrow, so just rest while you can."

"I can't. Someone's on my mind." I accidentally spill out, causing Yeonjun to sit up and face me.

He lets out a loud chuckle, "Really? Who's the lucky girlll?" He teases, smirking at me while laughing.

"It's a guy."

"It's a... guy? Are you for real?"

"...Surprisingly, yes."

Yeonjun looks at me with wide eyes, staring at me as if I said something wrong. But before I could say anything, he interrupts, "It's probably that Jake guy, huh? That cutie you're taking care of at the hospital, eh?" He laughs, "Am I right?"

I scoff and roll my eyes at him, "Yes, it's Jake. Happy?" I look at him with a tired, unamused expression as he continues laughing. "I swear if you keep laughing at me-"

"I'm sorry! But it's just too funny! Jake, the super cute guy at the hospital, catches your attention? Mind you, you're the most serious out of the 5 of us."

"No, Taehyun is."

"That's besides the point! You two are like complete opposites. Like- vampire and human opposites. You're cold and serious, and he's... well, bubbly and optimistic. You're totally and completely out of your mind."

I sigh. I didn't understand why Yeonjun thinks I'm out of my mind for thinking about Jake. It's not my fault that he's on my mind 24/7 now- okay, maybe it is. Besides, it's not like I'm not okay with it. But if I say that out loud, he will make fun of me, so the only thing that comes out of my goddamn mouth is; "I suppose I am."

"See? Now focus on getting some sleep, you must be tired." He sighs, facing the wall once again. "Good night, Heeseung."

"Night Yeonjun."
