Third person
The thunder crashed once again. A little louder this time, making Louis jump. He hugged his knees tighter to his chest, trying to console his speeding heartbeat. Each rumble sent shivers through his bones.
he wished he could be anywhere but here. He wanted to be in the arms of his brother, where he know he would be safe.
Louis squeezed his eyes shut but it didn't help. The sounds were everywhere. In his ears. In his mind. If he slept, it would follow him to his dreams too.
He pulled the blanket over his head, hoping to muffle the noise. His heart pounded in his chest. Each beat faster than the previous.
One more strike was all it took from Louis to dash out his room and across the hallway.
He fisted his trembling hands and knocked on the wooden surface. A minute later the door opened.
"Lou?" Harry questioned his presence while rubbing the sleep off his eyes.
"H- Harry. The... I'm sc-" The loud sound of the thunder stopped Louis' sentence halfway and made him in jump into his arms.
"Aww baby it's okay. I'm here. I got you." He understood the situation right away and directed Louis towards the bed.
Harry sat down and pulled him onto his lap. Another loud clap of the thunder made Louis grip onto his t shirt tight. "Harry. Ha-Harry, I'm scared. Make it stop please. Please..." he cried burying his face into his shoulder.
"Shhh babe. It's alright. I've got you okay? Give me your hand." He grabbed Louis' hand and put it over his chest.
"Feel my heartbeat love? Fell how it's beating? It's beating for you. Strong and steady. The thunder might be loud babe, but my heart is louder, and its right here beating against the palm of your hand. You're not alone Lou. I'm here and I'm not going anywhere. We'll get through this together."
Louis nodded, his hand still resting on Harry's chest. The steady rhythm of his heartbeat calming, a stark contrast to the chaotic storm outside. Harry could see Louis' tension ease like the other times this method worked, but he wanted to distract him further.
"Remember last week we watched a movie with Zayn?" Harry asked softly. He hint of smile playing on his lips.
Louis' eyes brightened a little at the mention of his brother. "The one with the aliens?" Harry gave a slight nod. "The special effects were horrible!" Louis said, giggling.
Harry chuckled. "Exactly. We all piled on the couch and Zayn kept making fun of the aliens.
Louis laughed, the memory bringing a bit of warmth to his voice. "Yeah. Then he started doing those ridiculous impressions. Remember when he pretended to be the alien leader? 'I come in peace, but I can't find my spaceship.' "
Harry grinned. "He had us laughing so hard. We probably missed like half the movie. We ended up having more fun mocking it than actually watching it"
Louis nodded, a genuine smile spreading across his face. "That was a good night. We were all so relaxed and just enjoying each other's company.
"Why don't we recreate that?" Harry suggested. "We can find a cheesy movie, make some popcorn and just laugh at how bad it is. It will be like having Zayn with us."
Louis' eyes softened at that thought. "I'd like that. It sounds perfect."
Harry set up the movie in the living room while Louis fetched a blanket. The curled up on the couch together. The sound of the storm outside slowly fading into the background as the movie started.
For a little while, the storm outside didn't matter. They were wrapped in the comfort of shared memories and the warmth of their presence together. As they laughed at the ridiculous antics on the screen, Louis felt the last of his fears melt away.
Sitting there, so close to Harry, he realized just how much he cherished these moments. Harry's laughter was like a soothing melody, and Louis couldn't help but feel a flutter of something deeper. Maybe love?
Harry, glancing at Louis' relaxed and happy face, felt the same flutter.
Their laughter was soon replaced by soft murmur of their breathing. Without realising it, they leaned closer until they were nestled together, Louis resting his head on Harry's chest and Harry's arm wrapped around Louis.
The storm continued to rage outside, but in the moment, it was a distant memory. They both drifted off to sleep, Louis finding solace and security in Harry's arms.
In the morning, they'd wake up to a world washed clean by the rain. Perhaps they would finally have the courage to take the step and officially become a couple but for now, they were content. Dreaming peacefully together on the couch.
