It's been a week from the mall incident. Today is our engagement. Yes like you all are I am also surprised that its happening so soon, they said about it just three days before. Karthik's parents said today is auspicious day so we can have engagement. But first my parents were reluctant about it. But my soon to be in laws said they want to do this marriage as soon as possible.

Our both families gathered in the temple. We decided to do engagement simple with our close relatives only. Our family and our uncle - aunt families.

Today not only our engagement day also they gone fix the marriage dates and all marriage related pre and post functions.

Except Karthik everyone is present. He is but late today.

As usual I am wearing silk saree which is blue color with simple jewelry.

I didn't put extra effort for makeup and hairstyle as I like to be simple.

Aparna aunty came towards me.

"you look so beautiful my dear even without any makeup"

She is praising my dress and the way I look at the same time her sister in law came in between us said.

" why you look so dull don't you know how our Karthik looks handsome if you want to match with him you should put some effort in grooming yourself. Look at your hair. It looks like you haven't visited beauty parlor ever."

To end her defaming about my appearance.

Aparna aunty said " Deepa remember this beauty is not about only external but also internal. And that's is very important in life. But look at my daughter in law is beautiful inside and outside. I am so lucky to have her as my daughter in law."

I smiled at her for standing for myself.

But that Deepa aunty not ready to leave it she started her taunting.

" Aparna Anni first you remember she is not yet became your daughter in law. Engagement is not completed yet and we don't know if Karthik will come here or not"

Hearing this my mother get worried. Immediately Aparna aunty asked her apology on her behalf for speaking nonsense.

Again Deepa aunty was about to speak.

At the same time we had Ashok uncle's voice.

We all turned to see in that direction.

There he is coming in his formals saying sorry for coming late to all the elders.

He too wearing the same color as mine. Light Blue shirt and dark blue pant.

And my cousins started teasing me for our matching outfits.

I mentally scoffed thinking we only know what going in between us.

After that day we didn't get chance to meet.

We never tried to talk with each other.

And more importantly he is behaving like he is not the one who's going to get married. And he is not making any trouble also.

It's seems like he doesn't care about this marriage and me.

I did knew he doesn't care about marriage but my question is does he care for me.
