As the first light of dawn crept over the horizon, Prince Lyxander awoke with a start. He had been eagerly anticipating this moment, knowing that another adventure awaited him beyond the castle walls.
Quietly, he slipped out of bed and changed into his simple, everyday clothes, ensuring he looked like any other young villager. Once ready, he tiptoed to the door and carefully opened it.
Just outside, Rhys was seated, meticulously cleaning his sword. The young swordsman's eyes flicked up to meet Lyxander's as he stepped out.
"Good morning, Rhys," Lyxander whispered. "Would you like to accompany me outside again?"
Rhys glanced up from his task and gave a slight nod, a hint of a smile playing at the corners of his lips.
"Why not, Your Highness? I will always be at your side."
Lyxander's heart swelled with happiness. He could hardly contain his excitement for their morning journey.
Together, they made their way through the secret passage that led from the castle to the outside world.
The hidden path was dimly lit and narrow, but they navigated it with ease, their steps practiced from countless previous excursions.
At the exit of the passage, two horses awaited them. One was Marsh, Prince Lyxander's loyal steed, and another horse for Rhys.
Lyxander grinned as he saw them. Rhys, place Marsh and the other horse here at the exit as he instructed.
With the horses ready, they mounted and rode out into the fresh morning air.
The ride to the Eldorian capital was exhilarating, the wind whipping through Lyxander's hair as he urged Marsh onward. The familiar sights and sounds of the bustling town filled him with a sense of wonder, as they always did.
The townspeople went about their daily activities, unaware of the royal presence in their midst.
Lyxander's mind was set on one destination Cassiel's house. He had been thinking of her all morning, eager to visit and spend time with his friend. Turning to Rhys, he shared his plan.
"I want to visit Cassiel's house today."
Rhys nodded in silent agreement, his expression unreadable.
"As you wish, Your Highness," he said, following the prince's order without question but with a subtle distance in his demeanor.
They navigated the winding streets of the capital, the vibrant market stalls and lively chatter of the townsfolk providing a colorful backdrop to their journey.
As they approached Cassiel's house, Lyxander's excitement grew.
Rhys, ever the dutiful guard, followed closely, ensuring the prince's safety while keeping his true thoughts hidden.
