April 10th | The same day

I landed on hard, rocky ground, pain spiking up in my back. I sat up, looking around, trying to scope out what was going on. A few metres away, I saw Todoroki getting up, and about 20 metres further than that, there were thugs, low-life thugs creeping up the slope. I let my head drop to face the floor while I gathered my energy.

Once I had regained my bearings, I looked up again, and... holy shit.

Todoroki had frozen all of the criminals in one go. Each and every villain was stuck in their tracks, shaking and quivering in the cold.

He has this handled — I should go help Mr. Aizawa.

Todoroki began to interrogate the villains about their intentions and plan regarding All Might, so I took that as my cue to go.

The minutes that I took to run to the centre of the dome felt short. I had to help, and my mind thought of nothing but doing exactly that.

The view I came to find when I arrived in the arena's centre was nothing short of pure horror. One of Mr. Aizawa's arms was lacking skin over the elbow and beyond. How did that happen, I wonder? The other arm was well-and-truly broken, being held behind him by a monster.

The monster was huge – as tall as All Might. His eyes met mine, his head level with my own. His body was covered in dark, red scars, and his mouth was much akin to a beak filled with sharp, fatal teeth.

I walked nearer to it and called forth a snake life from my left arm, making it grow to the size of an adult python. I watched as it grew and urged it forward, toward the monster. It followed my orders and wrapped itself tightly around the foul creature's ankles in a figure-eight.

I knew I wouldn't be able to do much to this creature. All I could do was try.

The monster's strongest point was close-quarters combat. It looked like it had no long-range attacks, and... it probably wouldn't take damage easily either. I had no weapons on me, so I had no choice but to fight hand-to-hand.

I ran at the hell-sent creature, creating two wolves to back me up. I ran. Faster, faster, faster.

The monster reeled his arm back for a straight punch to my face. I sent the two wolves to bite into his legs. Blood spurted from his legs, but he wasn't fazed in the slightest. My eyes widened.

His punch landed in my abdomen. I flew back, my back smashed against a tree. Lesson learned – this guy does not take shit.

I ran at him again, pushing away the thought of the pain digging into my flesh like a battering ram.

I ran, I ran, and I ran.

He reeled his left arm back – for a hook this time. The little distraction I may have had with my wolves once was now long gone – he'd destroyed them in no time flat. In fact, I wasn't sure if I'd be able to use my tattoos again after that.

I only had one shot at this.

His arms shot forward, and I grabbed onto it, crawling up it as if it were a bridge, I flung myself around his body, before landing, straddling the creature's neck as my feet locked near the top of his back.

I knew I wouldn't be able to do much to cause damage, but at the very least I could distract him for a while.

"SHIT!" I had known this was going to happen, but I hadn't prepared for the pain, the monster's hands had moved to my ribs so quickly – I hadn't seen it. Huge, terrifying hands were wrapped tightly around my torso.

Crack. Crack.

Fuck, I hope those weren't my bones.

They were.

I felt the trickling of my own blood down my waist and sides, it was so warm. It would've been comforting if I hadn't known what it was.

I had to do something to be useful.

I pushed through the pain, reaching forward, grabbing at the monster's eyes. I scratched at them with my stubbed nails, I punched them, I shoved my fingers in the sockets. He remained unwavering.

In the far, far distance, I heard a scream.

I turned my head – the man with blue hair and hands. He had his hand on Asui's face, but nothing was happening. Thank goodness.

Not even seconds later, Midoriya was tearing towards the blue-haired man, an arm filled with power, and before I knew it, the monster dropped me on the floor, rushing to protect its master.

I landed hardly on the ground, the air pressure of Midoriya's punch throwing my hair left and right.

My arms shook and trembled trying to haul myself up, but I stood.

Midoriya.

That fucking creature – that monster had gone after him. Its hand wrapped itself around Deku's forearm, yanking him. Its other hand reached for his head – closer, closer. I yelled out as I ran at Midoriya, and in the very final moment, I managed to push him out of the way of the creature's hand.

Once again, I flung myself around the monster's body, only this time, I landed on his back, and urgently dug my fingers into his exposed brain. The creature let out a horrible screech.

Boom.

There was a deafening crash at the entrance of the arena. I looked over, and-

"All Might!" I smiled widely.

My mistake.

The disgusting creature reached up, and before I could say another word, or defend myself, its thumb found a home in my left eye socket. The rest of its fingers closed around my head.

It felt like my head would implode. It felt like drowning, it felt like dehydration. It felt like everything.

I screamed. I screamed, and I yelled, and I cried.

The creature was apparently as happy to see All Might as I was, and it threw me to the side to fight him in my stead. Thank the Earth for All Might.

I was slammed into a tree for the second time that day. Pain bloomed in my back and ribs and neck, and whiplash clawed at my nape. I could only see from my right eye – the other was not only smothered in blood, but also likely dysfunctional. What little remaining vision I had began to blur. I knew I had to move – I knew I had to find someone to help me.

I trembled. When did it get so cold? At least my arms were undamaged. I lifted myself to lean on a tree. I could barely make out shapes as my vision shifted in and out of clarity.

I saw a pink and purple blob run towards me – Mina.

I breathed laboriously and turned my head to face her.

"Grey," I wheezed out. "Where is Grey?"

"She'll be here, I'm sure of it. Don't worry, everything's going to be okay."

Another figure came into view, though I couldn't tell who it was by sight. My vision was swimming with static and black spots.

But oh, how I hoped it was her. How I needed it to be her.

She had to be there.

I needed her to be there.

Everything would be okay...

So long as Grey was there.
