Millie
As soon as the bell rings, signalling the end of my class, I gather up my books and slowly make my way home. The moment I reach my destination, my IPhone starts ringing, the sound of my ringtone stealing my attention instantly. I quickly fish my phone out of my pocket, and look down and see Tillie's name on the screen. After clearing my throat, I slide my phone unlocked and press it to my ear.
"Hi, Tillie! What's up?" I say, holding the phone to my ear.
"Hey, Millie! Are you free this Saturday ? We could go shopping!" My best friend replies the moment I slam my bedroom door closed behind me.
"I'd love too but I've already something planned..." I mumble into the phone while kicking off my shoes.
"Oh, really?" I hear Tillie respond in a soft voice.
"Yes, I'm seeing Bailey to work on the assignment. I'm sorry..." I deadpan as a wave of excitement starts coursing through me at the thought of spending some time with Bailey.
"Don't worry. How is everything going, by the way? How is she? Oh my god, tell me everything!" My best friend whisper-yells, unable to hide her enthusiasm.
"She's nice actually but..."I trail off, searching for the right words.
"But?" Tillie repeats, encouraging me to finish my sentence. Then, I swallow nervously, and lick my lips before opening my mouth to speak.
"I f-feel nervous around her. There's something about her..." I manage to say as I take a seat on my bed and slam my eyes shut.
"I see...can I ask you something, Millie?" Tillie speaks again, after an uncomfortable moment of silence, and I can hear her smile through the phone.
"Of course..." I reply in a whisper, forcing my vocal cords to work as I swallow past the heavy lump in my throat.
"Do you find Bailey attractive?" My best friend asks out of the blue and heat rises to my cheeks at her question. My heart starts pounding violently in my chest as I register her words.
"D-Don't we all?" I voice my thoughts, the words are out of my mouth before I can stop them.
"I see...that's I all needed to know. Thank you for your honesty." Tillie replies, her tone holding something I can't decipher.
"M-maybe that's w-why I feel nervous around her? She's p-pretty. I mean, she's Bailey Steele after all..." I comment under my breath after licking my bottom lip. I hear Tillie chuckle on the other line in response.
"Maybe...I just want you to be fully aware that, whatever you feel when you're around Bailey, it's completely normal. It's okay to be attracted to people around you..." My friend reassures me as I blow out a deep breath and wipe the sweat off my forehead with the back of my hand.
"Well, t-thank you Tillie. I'll keep that in mind..." I trail off while standing from my bed.
"I'm sorry, I need to go. My mom is calling me." Tillie explains, and I detect a hint of annoyance in her voice.
