"Where the fuck are you going?" I hear a familiar raspy male voice the moment I start walking toward the bus station. However, I don't even have to turn around to find out who it is.

Blake Jensen.

"I n-need to go somewhere." I manage to respond, unable to gather the courage to spin around and face him. I hold my breath as soon as I hear him take menacing steps towards me, closing the gap between us.

"I'm not here to play any games. So I repeat, where are you going?" Blake deadpans, his intimidating voice leaving no room for argument, as if he has already reached his limit.

"Harper called me. She's been trying to reach both you and Bailey but neither of you is answering. She's super worried. She sent me an address so I'm gonna check on her. I've got no time to lose." I explain the moment he rounds me and stops in front of me, my voice coming out as a shaky breath.

"I forgot my phone at my place. Gimme your phone, I wanna see the address." Blake commands, his voice deep with emotion as he extends his hand for me to hand over my iPhone.

"W-why?" I stammer as Blake peers down at me, his gaze holding me hostage.

"I may be a lot of things but I'm not suicidal. You're not going alone. Bailey's gonna put a bullet between my eyes if one hair on your head gets hurt. Gimme your phone, now." Blake deadpans, the threat in his tone, silent but as deadly as venom, doesn't go unnoticed, sending a shiver down my spine. After a few reluctant seconds, I slowly hand my phone to him, slightly rolling my eyes just enough to show my irritation.

"It's not too far away, I just checked." I voice my thoughts, watching as Blake clicks the address. The atmosphere shifts instantly, and something indescribable passes in his eyes. He remains silent for a few seconds, his attention fully on my iPhone, as if the staring could force the destination to change, his thumbs hovering with a slight tremor over the screen, a sharp contrast to his deadly composure.

"Fuck this." Blake curses under his breath as he turns violently on his heels, ripping off his uniform tie. Then, he storms toward the private student parking lot of Huxley High, with a lethal pace, the threatening rhythm similar to a predator chasing its prey. I freeze instantly, my limbs completely paralysed. My eyes lock on his menacing grip on my iPhone as my heart hammers against my ribs, unsure what's spiraling through his silent mind.

"W-where are you going?" I whisper-bellow, still rooted to my spot, mentally begging my legs to move but they refuse to obey. Above us, a powerful crack of thunder shatters the sky, a violent warning from nature itself. The menacing grey clouds hover over like a strict scolding parent, the raindrops falling like a heavy judgment I can no longer avoid.

"I thought you wanted to see Bailey?" Blake deadpans as he fishes the black Mercedes key from his pocket and beeps his car open, the sharp sound of his G-Class an unfriendly reminder of the barrier that exists between my world and the one he shares with Bailey.
