Millie
"Hi, I'm M—" I start the moment I step outside and my gaze collides with Blake, leaning on the hood of a black Mercedes G-Class as he waits for me. I shiver at the temperature change, the cold air wrapping its vicious hold around me and making the hairs of my arms stand up.
"I know who you are, Millie Hart. Come on, let's go. I have no time to waste. Get in the car." Blake cuts me off before I have a chance to finish my sentence.
Nice to meet you too...
"O-okay..." I whisper, taken aback by his words, as he beeps his car unlocked and slips into the driver seat. I seriously thought our first interaction would be different.
He better keep this attitude away from Tillie...
Inhaling a deep breath, I waste no time contemplating my thoughts, and follow him, slipping into the passenger seat of his sports car.
"Nice car!" I tell him, breaking the heavy silence as I click my seatbelt on, the smell of cigarettes and his expensive cologne filling the space between us. The moment the fires up the car, shifting it into gear, I realise my attempt to make small talk is a failure.
Why is he so hostile?
"T-thank you for the ride, I told Bailey it wasn't necessary but she insisted..." I voice my thoughts after swallowing the hard lump in my throat and taking a shuttering breath, my eyes never leaving the windshield.
"Of course she would." Bailey's best friend mumbles, his words catching me off guard.
What does that mean?
My heart skips a beat at his words, and I fight the urge to ask a few questions about Bailey. However, from his expression I can tell he won't answer any of them, so I stay quiet.
I just hope he's more talkative with Tillie...
"Did you have fun tonight?" Blake asks, his voice pulling me out of my thoughts. My cheeks start heating at his question, his words resonating in my brain.
"F-fun? I mean, Bailey and I just worked on the assignment... that's all we did tonight." I manage to reply as I turn my head, my eyes landing on him. However, his attention is solely on the road. The way the corner of his lip lifts in a devilish smirk doesn't go unnoticed though.
"If you say so..." Blake trails off, as he turns down a street that isn't far from my place. Then, I shift uncomfortably on the leather seat the moment I realise I didn't even give him my address.
"How do you know where I live?" I question him, crossing my arms in front of my chest, as I rub my sweaty palms on my thighs and inhale a shaky breath, a breath that fails to calm my nerves.
"Bay told me." Tillie's biggest crush deadpans after raking a hand through his hair. An unnamed feeling courses through me the moment he mentions Bailey by that friendly nickname.
