"Thunder."

"Go ahead."

"This is a bank robbery gone bad. We've got ten hostages in the building. Five or so assailants, our team wasn't able to get a good read."

Nodding, I titled my head spotting the hostages through the glass. The officer I was speaking to had a graze injury on his shoulder. Watching me closely. Well really, they all were.

"This is your operation. Point me where I need to go."

A bit surprised the officer composed himself and took me to the lead cop as we discussed a plan of what to do. Superheroes are still a relatively new concept here. Most of them are cockyq and reckless which cost lives, hence why I don't blame humans much for being distrustful.

"SWAT is two minutes out. The important priority is my men and the hostages."

"Agreed."

"Good. So no showboating, you do what I say when I say, am I clear?"

"Clear."

Pointing at the map, he guided me through where SWAT would enter and that if I were to go on it would primarily be a distraction. We were interrupted of course when one of the assailants held a gun to one of the hostage's head, screaming out.

"Don't send anyone inside! We have plenty of men and firepower to handle anyone!"

He locked eyes with me seeking to grit his teeth.

"If I see that hero anywhere near here! I'll blow this bitches head off! You HEAR ME!"

"Please! I have a family-"

"Shut IT!"

The assailant shoved one of the hostages back inside, and my eye slightly twitched. I turned back to the lead cop with a hushed sigh.

"I should go-"

"You are not going anywhere. Trust my men. They'll get the hostages out and you do your thing yeah?"

It seemed the eyes on me now were practically pleading for me not to leave. With a quick inhale, I crossed my arms and returned to the side of the lead. I like helping in these situations when I can but most times I'm helpless-

Crash

Gunshots

The lead guy and I looked at each other, SWAT arrived but something was going down in the bank. The lead guy nodded at me and that's all I needed to head inside. I ran in crashing through glass myself, the shards bounced off my skin. Looking ahead, the hostages were fighting back hence all the scattering gunshots. Quickly I flicked my wrists sending a crack of purple light disabling the guns in my eyesight. I heard SWAT personnel at the back door, but the assailants were hustling in my direction. Using a nearby table, I kicked it down onto its side. Kicking it near the hostages for them to use as cover. The assailants I didn't disable were now firing at me which was a problem. Mostly because the bullets were ricocheting off of me and hitting their men or hostages who weren't in cover. Although they were within my range. Using my strength and speed, I rushed ahead disabling the guns and knocking the assailants out one by one. SWAT took advantage of the chaos and moved to get the hostages out one by one while I drew the attention of the assailants. I'm glad we have a joint program with them to upgrade their personnel to be as strong as a sup's skin.

"HEY! BITCH!"

The main assailant from before grabbed the last hostage and held the barrel to her head.

"Make one more move. I dare you."

Halting my step, I lowered my hands locking eyes with the woman before looking back at the man.

"Good girl. Now you're going to let me walk out of here."

"You know, as well as I do, I can't promise you that-"

"I don't give a hit if you're a Supe! Stay put!"

Clenching my jaw I nodded, SWAT had helped their step as well but I could hear the snipers on the roof discussing whether they had a shot or not. The assailant started to slowly walk backward, my fingers flexed and SWAT was on their p's and q's-

"Nobody FUCKING move!"

We stilled again. The snipers had a shot now but it wasn't clean. The lead cop said to execute and the shot was fired. I rushed over and caught the woman.

"MEDIC! Medic!"

I yelled at the top of my lungs. The bullet went through the guy's head but his finger was still holding the trigger. The shot got lodged in the right side of the woman's skull. My hand holding the back of her head was warm as I clasped her other hand stained with the assailant's blood. A low whisper of apologies came out of my lips, the woman seemed oddly grateful but it wasn't like I did much. I didn't do much of anything.

Crack

Pop

"Here we have Thunder in the tragic bank robbery today-"

"She did everything she could do-"

"She's a superhero! Isn't her job to protect the public? Just because she's a woman doesn't mean she's going to get let off the hook-"

Buzz

My eyes traveled up slightly, I recognized his scent. But he's equally responsible for turning the tv off.

"Enough of that, hmm?"

"Come to judge me have you?"

I spat at him tipping the white wine down my throat. Paul came into my eyeline, with a burgundy sweater and solemn pupils.

"Don't look at me like that."

"Like what-"

"Like you care. I know you don't."

Cold as ice. I know. Don't fucking remind me-

"That tough skin act doesn't work with me."

Scoffing, I tipped the bottle down again and Paul took that chance to sit next to me on the couch. Close.

"You're usually changed out of your suit by now."

I lowered the bottle in my finger to realize I had been home for hours and just now checked my wardrobe. The blood on me was dried. I could still smell it though.

"Mmm...you got me there."

"What did you see, Leto?"
