"What is it? What's wrong?"

"I..."

It was hard to get words out, my fatigue had taken hold deep in my bones. The harder I tried to concentrate the more foggy my brain became.

"I swear I'm forgetting something. I swear it..."

"Start back as far as you can remember."

Paul moved to hold me but I pulled away from his embrace. That hurt him but at the same time I felt an eerie chill down my spine and I fumbled out.

"I left the hero meeting."

"Uh-huh."

"Saved a few citizens and then..."

Blinking slowly I shook my head.

"Nothing. I'm completely black for at least ten hours."

"About that..."

He showed me the date and an entire week had passed. Immediately I started to hyperventilate, my view starting to spin. Paul abruptly pulled me into his embrace, tucking my head into his shoulder and flowing a few fingers through my hair. Wincing slightly, he rubbed my back.

"Breathe out, hon."

Exhaling, I breathed back in then pulled away.

"What happened? Why can't remember anything-"

"Slow down, slow down. I'll explain."

Swallowing harshly, cupping my face with his hands he moved to grip my trembling fingers. Paul elaborated that after saving the baby and family from the fire, when I moved to fly off a hero slammed into me head-first while they were flying to another scene. I was unconscious for a week time. My..absence caused an uptick in certain areas that missed my presence others were happy I was temporarily retired. Different heroes had come to visit me like Mark and Cleo but otherwise, it was mostly just Paul watching over me.

"You took care of me."

"I did."

Hugging Paul tight, there was a not in my chest. It was wrong to think it. Although it was more like a feeling...

Paul just lied to me.

It's not like he has t done that before, but that was a long time ago. When he was toxic and I was naive. He's changed now. I'm not sure if it was intuition or paranoia. To clear my head a bit more I took a bath, sliding the bandage off my head. There was a bruise there. I slipped under the water hearing my speaker blasting music, its vibrations muffling amidst the air bubbles leaving my nose. Paul is a half sup. His kind is slowly emerging. They aren't born with superpowers they are made. Most of the time through some type of exposure through spliced drugs, radiation, etc. Half sup's aren't as strong as born along with not having the base affinities of strength, hearing, and speed. Hence why when the thought filtered through my mind he couldn't perceive my heartbeat shifting slightly. Resurfacing from the water, I groaned to myself my head still swimming with thoughts-

"Hey. You're supposed to be relaxing in here."

"I am relaxing-"

"You're eyebrows are flexed and you massaging your temples. You're anything but relaxed."

Lowering my hand he wasn't wrong. I watched Paul strip off his clothes, an interesting distraction.

"I know what you're doing."

"I know."

"You're still getting in despite my foul mood?"

"Yes."

Rolling my eyes I arched so he could slide in behind me and I slumped back on his lap. Paul dimmed the lights skipping a few songs on my playlist to get to the more sensual ones. He kissed up my shoulder his hot breath on my neck.

"Paul-"

"I know. Just let me get you out of your head."

Swish

Gasps

He slipped his fingers in between my folds, his thumb applying pressure to my abdomen. Humming softly he used his free hand to grip the nape of my neck pulling me into a sloppy kiss. I took control eventually, making his hair wet with my fingers, and grinding his waist like a starved animal. I had to stop obviously because I'd break his pelvis if I went any harder. Paul wasn't scared for me to break him but I always have been. I know he resents that but-

"Come here."

Sucking my teeth, curses fell from my lips feeling Paul gripping my waist pulling me down for his physique to take over. At that point, Paul had successfully pulled me out of my head. My hair stood up on end and my pupils started to flicker. As a precaution, I moved my hands to lean on the tile. Inhaling sharply, and gagging softly, a few of the bulbs flickered as my pupils glowed full for about a minute including Paul's before we sunk into each other's arms.

"Mmm..."

"Better?"

"Mhmm..."

****

Paul wanted me to take it slow but once the bruise was mostly gone I was already gearing up to go out in the city.

"Leto-"

"I appreciate what you do and what you've done for me Paul but I've been sitting around too long. I don't want to get rusty."

"You're not capable of getting rusty. You're an overthinking workaholic."

Chuckling he wasn't wrong.

"That's...true. You've gotta give me this, please Paul."

Paul sighed pushing some hair out of my face, gritting his teeth then replied.

"Alright fine, but nothing crazy okay? Keep it simple."

"Simple."

"You don't have to impress anyone."

"Of course."

Per Paul's instructions, I kept it simple. Helping cats out of trees, surprise visits to kindergarten classes and finally stopping by the nonprofit I support.

"Thunder! About fucking time get in here girl!"

It'd made to support a various amount of communities. It grew from a traditional Christian community to rehabilitate half sup's, of LGPTQ+ communities, orphans etc. It's a hotspot for minorities to get a start in a new city and learn what it means to be human or have powers. I walked around singing autographs, serving food, or helping conduct lightning when needed to jumpstart technology. They had a lot of new upgrades. Pros for sure but the cons were because of how blended it was it made it an easier target for theft and brainwashing. Instead of being a community that helped others, it's become more of a cult in some ways. That's unfortunately inevitable when it comes to anything in life.
