The next day Moune went to work as usual but was antsy the whole day. She was excited to meet Matthew but so nervous so she took her time doing her work. She wanted to take up time so she could go straight the the place where she would meet Matthew. If she finished early she wouldn't know what to do with her hands or her brain.
When it was exactly 4:30 Moune decided to leave the office and head over to Kitty's. Her drive was short as expected and when she got there she looked for the same car she saw 3 years ago that Matthew drove, but didn't see it. She stayed in the car looking around hoping to see Matthew walking in. She was thankful her windows were tinted as she people watched.
Looking down at her phone she saw a text from her mother.
Mom: He's inside !
Moune feels her stomach bubble in nervousness as she turns off her car and unbuckles her seatbelt. She licks her lips as she feels her mouth become dry and parched. Slowly, Moune walks to the restaurant doors and is greeted by a waiter.
"Hello, Welcome to Kitty's. How many?"
"Um, I'm meeting someone here."
"Oh! Is it that gentleman right there?" He points to somewhere and Moune smiles while nodding as she immediately recognizes Matthew sitting down in a both with a suitcase next to the seat.
He looked different. He had a buzz cut and his hair had a blonde tint on the already brown color. When he looked up and saw her he smiled widely and stood up from his seat. She walked towards him, the nervous feeling gone.
Immediately Moune gave him a hug which he reciprocated without a thought. He smelled the same as 3 years ago.
They let go of each other and almost awkwardly sit down. Now Moune finally gets a better view of his face.
His eyes were brighter. Well, eye. The brown eye was still brown but the one that seemed like a hazel green looked almost like a Forrest green now. It was beautiful. His short hair suited him well and she noticed it made him look younger than when she first met him. His skin was also very tan and there were visible tan lines on his wrist from maybe a bracelet.
"You look good. Happy." Matthew says with a smile on his rosy lips.
"I am happy. Even happier now that I get to finally hear your voice. It's been a long time."
She can't help but catch sight of the smile lines that make him look masculine and mature. It made her heart flutter looking at his perfect smile with his perfect teeth. He seemed like the complete opposite of his brother.
He stared at her having a thousand thoughts behind his eyes. She can tell he wanted to say something so bad, but was unsure if he should. He sucks in a breath before speaking.
"I hope you know I didn't forget about you. I thought it would be best for us to try to forget each other, but it was hard to forget you." He scratches in face in a way to hide his embarrassment.
"I never stopped hoping you would reach out. I really wanted to have and keep a friendship with you. You saved me."
She expected him to be happier at her words, but he actually let out a sigh and looked away. Moune questioned his action and he again looked as if he didn't want to say whatever was going to come out.
"Do you think that you're attached to me out of a feeling of duty? Almost like you have to stay around your savior."
Moune was shocked at his words. She knew she was close to developing Stockholm syndrome with Jacks and now Matthew thinks she has a complex with her savior.
