~ a few nights later ~

I scrolled on my phone while sitting on the couch and rubbing Lyric's back. I had just finally gotten her to fall back asleep. She woke up almost an hour ago because she had a bad dream.

A sigh left my mouth as I turned my phone off and rest my eyes.

I opened my eyes seconds later when I heard footsteps approaching from the hallway. I watched as Tayleigh walked into the living room, clearly half asleep as she rubbed her eyes.

I started to tell her to watch out for the coffee table but it was too late as Tayleigh already ran into it, tripping a little.

"Damn bitch move." she mean mugged the coffee table. I busted out laughing.

Tayleigh then walked over to me, sitting down and laying her head on my shoulder. "Why'd you leave me mama?" she softly asked.

"I'm sorry. Lyric woke up because she had a bad dream. She wanted to talk about it but I didn't wanna wake you, so we came out here. She just finally went back to sleep." I explained.

"Oh. What was it? The dream." Tayleigh asked. "It was about her father. She said some bad guys took them away from each other. After she told me, she started crying and asking if her dad was ever coming back." I sighed.

"Damn...I remember when I used to ask those questions." Tayleigh quietly expressed.

"Why did you stop?" I wondered. "I don't know. I guess one day I just accepted that he was gone. And he wasn't coming back. I taught myself to live without him..." Tayleigh explained.

"Then, I didn't quite understand death. I still don't now that I'm older but, I've come to terms with it. And I know that I'll meet him again. Sooner or later." she continued.

I nodded a little.

"Yea...that's how I feel about my parents. I'm sad, hurt and even angry that they're gone. But I know when it's time for me to go, they'll be waiting for me. And I'll be with them again." I explained.

"Yup. Till then, you're stuck with me." Tayleigh evilly laughed a little, taking my hand in hers.

"You're stuck with me." I reversed the statement. "And that's perfectly fine with me...till death do us part." Tayleigh kissed my hand.

"Mhm." I nodded, smiling at her.

"Now get yo ass back in bed. I miss you." Tayleigh said. "Carry Lyric for me." I stood up and smiled. "She can stay out here with her heavy ass." Tayleigh stood up as well.

"Taylei-" I started to say. "I'm kidding. I'm kidding." Tayleigh chuckled, going to pick Lyric up. I glared at her a little.

"Fix your face." she told me.

"Naur." I turned around and started walking down the hallway. "Fix your face." Tayleigh said again, smacking my ass.

"Bae stop." I quickly turned to face her. "Then fix your face." she responded. I turned back around and rolled my eyes a little. "And don't be rolling your eyes." Tayleigh said.

I smiled to myself, walking into the bedroom.

"...so tired." I mumbled, laying down on my bed. Tayleigh laid Lyric down beside me, then laid on the other side of her.
