The others were already there.
Holly hugged her brother, relieved that he was safe. Dakota and Don were embraced by their parents. Annabeth kissed Julius and Jia En and Chan Lin sighed with relief. Loki and Lavina smiled with affection as Mina threw herself into their arms.
"Everyone, prepare your abilities and weapons," Jia En announced. Chan Lin added, "Shades, wait until our command so you save more energy."
Silently, they stared at the monitor.
The Shadowelves, hooded and cloaked, stealthily moved about, trying to discover something. They moved on to a next part after determining that nothing was there, but no one relaxed.
No one moved a muscle, everyone tensed up and ready to fire at the slightest provocation.
A shark swam into view and everyone tensed.
Wond tighter than a spring, everyone refused to relax, fearing for their very lives.
"Shades, prepare whatever you can," Annabeth whispered.
Mina felt the Shadowlune within her and clung tightly to it, then released it.
The Shadowlune stirred.
Suddenly, the Shadowelves came into view.
They were staring right at the monitor.
As if they knew Mina and the others were behind that camera.
