TW: Vomiting, hospital

"Tay, call an ambulance!" Travis shouted, watching helplessly as Avery began shaking uncontrollably, "I think she's having a seizure!"

Taylor was already on the phone with a dispatcher, trying to explain the situation and getting frustrated when the woman couldn't seem to understand why they couldn't get to Avery themselves.

"Please, you have to help her!" Taylor cried, "Please save our baby!"

Travis quickly gathered up a few essentials while Taylor ensured that the ambulance was en route to Avery. He alerted security that they needed to leave as quickly as possible before tossing their bags haphazardly into the trunk. He remained on the phone with Avery, finding at least some reassurance in the fact that she had stopped shaking and he could see now that she was breathing steadily.

They drove in silence, sitting together in the backseat while one of the security guards drove. Taylor was still on the call with 911, waiting for an update to hear that they had found Avery, and Travis still on the call with Avery, watching carefully for any changes in her breathing. A few minutes into the drive, they got confirmation that police and EMS had arrived at the house and were able to gain access to the bedroom. Travis watched helplessly as they hooked Avery up to all sorts of monitors and got her onto a stretcher. One of the EMTs grabbed Avery's phone when they heard him shouting for them, quickly explaining what was happening and confirming which hospital they should bring her to. The other EMT was giving Avery an injection in her thigh, which they explained would bring her blood sugar up quickly.

By the time Taylor and Travis arrived at the hospital, Avery had already arrived and been taken straight to a private room. Taylor stopped a nurse in the hallway, begging her for any type of update on Avery's condition. The nurse brought them into Avery's room, where she was lying in the bed hooked up to several IVs and monitors. She explained that Avery had another seizure while in the ambulance, so they were monitoring her closely for any complications. Much to both Taylor and Travis's relief, they were expecting her to make a speedy recovery now that her blood sugar was stabilizing.

"Daddy?" Avery mumbled as she slowly blinked her eyes open.

"I'm right here, girlie," Travis answered as he rushed to her side, "I've got you, you're okay."

"I don't feel good," she groaned just before vomiting all over Travis's lap.

"It's okay, Aves. Let's get this all cleaned up, okay?" Travis said, barely even flinching.

Avery's nurse helped them get Avery cleaned up and changed into pajamas while Travis quickly changed out of his dirty clothes. The nurse explained that it was pretty typical for people to feel sick like that as their blood sugar rises, and that she would ask the doctors to order something to help Avery not feel as nauseated. Avery was embarrassed that she had gotten sick all over Travis, but everyone reassured her that it wasn't her fault and they were just glad to see her awake and okay.

Within a few hours, Avery was feeling much more like herself, although still very tired and with a splitting headache. The doctors were reassured that she would make a full recovery, but they wanted to keep her in the hospital overnight to continue to monitor her for any complications. She was able to eat a little bit of the dinner she ordered, although the chicken tenders made her feel nauseated again.

By around 8:30, Avery was exhausted and ready to try to get some sleep. Taylor and Travis tried their best to keep her bedtime routine the same as it was at home, figuring that she probably needed the stability right now more than anything else. They had even managed to get a copy of the book they were currently reading from the hospital playroom. After reading two chapters, Avery's eyes were beginning to flutter closed. Taylor was about to give her one last kiss goodnight when Avery broke the silence that had fallen over the small room.

"Mommy?" she asked quietly.

It took Taylor a second to process that Avery was asking for her. Avery had only called her Mom by accident a few times, but this felt very intentional.

"I'm right here, baby," Taylor reassured her, "What do you need?"

"Would you sing to me?" Avery asked.

"Of course, lovebug. What do you want to hear?" Taylor asked, trying and failing to hide her smile.

"One of your songs please," Avery said sleepily.

Taylor took a deep breath, holding Avery's hand as she quietly sang until Avery had drifted off to sleep, her soft snores filling the room.

Oh, darling don't you ever grow up

Don't you ever grow up, just stay this little

Oh, darling, don't you ever grow up

Don't you ever grow up, it could stay this simple

I won't let nobody hurt you

Won't let no one break your heart

And no one will desert you

Just try to never grow up
