Chapter 5

Sam's POV
6 years...
6 years after the accident.
I'm 18 now, Cara's 23 and moved out.
3 years since I've seen her.
3 years since she's left.
I was working at my after school job at Starbucks. Mum said I had to get a job they had an opening here so yeah I took it.
"Umm, can I have a Venti Caramel Frappe? Oh, and a Birthday Cake Pop." I looked up and saw a young woman with blue-green eyes, ombré hair, she wasn't like other girls who came here. She looked sweet and her makeup didn't look like a box of crayons threw up on her.
"Okay, can I get your name please?"
"Cara."
"Your total is $3.85, Cara." I said smiling.
"Thanks, umm."
"Sam" I said finishing her sentence.
"Wait you look familiar, do I know..." She stopped mid-sentence and looked up. Her eyes were filled with shock. "Sam is that you?"
"Wait your name is Cara I have a sister named Cara."
"I have a brother named Sam. Oh my god, you are Sam!" She yelled earning a few stares and weird looks.
"Wait, so you're saying you're the same Cara that held me when mum and dad used to fight?"
"Yep."
A voice on the other side called Cara's order out to the almost full Cafe.
Before she left I quickly asked "Wanna meet me after my shift is over?" She nodded and grabbed her stuff and sat down in the corner. A group of 4 guys came in, one with curly hair, glasses, and an All Time Low shirt; the guy next to him had dark straight hair, bright blue eyes, he had on an Avengers tank with holes cut in it; the two other guys were identical twins both with blond hair. Thank goodness they didn't dress the same. Both had their hair in a quiff but one of them had a neater quiff then the other he also had glasses and wore a shirt with the flag on it that was black and white. The other with the messier quiff, didn't have glasses and seemed more laid back he wore a Thor vs Loki shirt (idk I just wanted to make a tribute to my friend she knows who she is) they ordered their drinks and sat with Cara.
I started to wonder who these people were, when I realized the one with the curly hair and glasses, was Conner.
Cara's POV
The guys sat down around me and Conner gave me a quick kiss on the cheek, yes Conner and I are dating. He asked me to prom, and basically dedicated a song to me, I know it's so cliché. From there he became the guitarist in a band called 'Boys like Girls'. He then finally let me listen to his music and I loved it, he introduced me to the rest of the band. Dylan with blue eyes and dark hair is the drummer, and Alfie the more laid back-twin plays bass, Alex his twin plays guitar as well. They're cool, I guess. Perrie and Ally my best friends are still twin-like Perrie is dating this guy named Kian who was football captain and now coaches football at our old high school. Ally is still a single pringle but is crushing on Alfie who shares her love of Marvel, music, and video games, Conner just told me that Alfie likes her back, to be honest they would make a really cute couple but they always tell us that they're "just friends".
"Hey Cara, someone's walking over and seems to be looking at you." Dylan said, as Conner put a protective arm around me. I could easily tell he was jealous when he tensed up beside me when Dylan pointed that out. I looked up from my phone to see Sam walking towards us , I jumped up and ran towards him not realizing that he was holding a cup of coffee, until I nearly bumped into him.
"Sooo, who are those guys I mean I recognize Conner" he asked walking alongside me back to the table. I didn't say anything until we got to the table.
Sam's POV
"Guys," she started, "this is my brother Sam. Nothing to get jealous over, Conner." Conner started blushing and tried to hide it by taking a long sip of coffee. "Sam this is Dylan" Cara pointed to the guy with the dark hair, "Alfie the more laid back twin and Alex the perfectionist" she pointed to the twins who were on their phones laughing. She sat down and I followed. This is gonna be interesting.
"Cara, I need a place to stay." I asked sheepishly.
"Why did mum kick you out?" She asked.
"No she got in an accident and died." I said, tears rimmed my eyes as I explained how me and Rissa found out through the news. I also told her how from then on me and Rissa have been staying at my friend Gabe's house because his parents are out on a business trip.
"Oh my gosh, wait where's Rissa now?" She asked shocked and worried.
"Oh my girlfriend Stephenie's babysitting her."
"Okay. Umm, maybe you and Rissa can live at me and Conner's flat." She still cared and she was even accepting Marissa into our family. I nodded and she quickly got up and motioned for Conner and I to follow her.
"Cara, where are we going?" Conner and I asked at the same time.
"We're gonna go pick up Rissa and then head to the police station to ask if Rissa will have to go to an orphanage or if she can stay with us." She quickly responded. Conner and I followed her to the car once inside I told her where Stephenie lived so she could pick up Rissa. Once we got Rissa she drove to the station and ran to the reception and asked the lady for adoption papers. Wait, adoption papers it then hit me Cara was gonna adopt Rissa. I started to wonder why she didn't need to sign adoption papers for me and then I realized I'm 18 so I'm basically an adult.
She and Conner both signed the papers and drove to Carla's house so we could pack.
Another new beginning. Another incident.
