"Ms. Rivera!" Cielo yell on the top of her lung for her secretary.
In no time, a woman came rushing inside her office and she stood in front of her with a mouth stuffed with food. A sandwich on her left hand and a lot of stacked papers on her right arm.
"Where is the document I nee-!?" Before Cielo could finish what she was about to say, Maki bite onto her sandwich letting her teeth hold on to the food for a moment so she can use her other hand. She arranged the stacked papers on top of her boss table and nodded at it. As if saying, 'there you go.' Kinuha ni Maki ang pagkain na naka salpak sa kaniyang bibig at nilunok ang natitirang laman ng kaniyang bibig.
"Iyan na po, Ma'am." Maki said smiling widely at the woman sitting before her. While doing what she did, Cielo was just staring at her intently, her gaze is boring onto the woman criticizing each of Maki's movement.
"Oh nandito na pala 'yan, bakit hindi mo agad ibinigay? Mas inuna mo pa talaga yung pagkain." Cielo muttered, with seriousness lacing on her tone.
Maki stood there, looking at Cielo absentmindedly. Not garnering any response from the woman, Cielo became enraged by this. She slammed her hand on her table, cutting Maki's trance.
"po?" She innocently said nang mabalik ito sa ulirat niya.
"Ms. Rivera, do you really want this job?" Cielo said composing her posture.
"I do- I mean, yes Ma'am." Maki bit the inside of her cheeks with her absentminded answers. Mukhang masisisante pa siya ng wala sa oras.
"What did I do, Ma'am?" Mahina niyang sabi sa boss niyang nakakunot noo nanaman.
'Lagi ba siyang galit? I mean, kahit ba outside ng work ganiyan siya?' Maki thought.
"To be honest, you're being sluggish, unproductive, and your mind seems to be preoccupied most of the time. And I don't that want that kind of employee or even those attitudes when it comes to work have a place in my workspace."
'Too much for being honest, don't 'ya think, Ms. Cielo?' Maki thought to herself.
"Are you firing me, Ms. Madrigal?" Maki asked while smiling.
"Oh bakit ka pa nakangiti kung ganon gagawin ko?"
"Tinatanong lang naman kasi, ikaw kaya boss dito 'no." Pabirong sabi ni Maki.
"I might have to if you don't have any progress at all."
"So.... I'm still employed, right?" Maki said with a twinkle in her eyes looking at Cielo.
"You might not be if you continue asking me." Cielo said averting her attention towards the papers now setting on her table and flipping the pages of it.
"Oh kumpleto yan ah. Even yung mga backlogs ko. Charot, always on time pala ako magpasa." Nakangiting sabi nito sa boss niya, na may halong pang aasar.
'Anong unproductive pinagsasabi nito? eh I'm always on time nga eh.' Maki thought to herself.
'Pasensya na napindot nanaman ni anger kanina.' Cielo thought.
"You may go now." Cielo bluntly said without sparing Maki a glance.
The latter followed what her boss said despite wanting to stay sa office niya just to be around with her presence for a while, but the woman knew her boss better than any other. After bowing her head she exited the room.
"Maki, lunch?" Brent- one of Maki's team asked her as soon as she exit her boss office. Maki lift the sandwich on her hand and smiled.
"I'm having one already." The woman said and walked past him.
