I run through the burning school coughing and Marlen fighting me to go back "No! We need to go back for Kate!" Marlen cries as I bring him into my arms I slide in some blood and I catch myself on the railing, the school cries and creaks and I rush down the stairs and I jump out of the door I scramble and I get away from the building and I hold Marlen tight as I run into the group "guys!" I yell my voice filled with unsung sorrow "oh my god! Akomori!" Mark says as he rushes forward and he meets me half way and he pulls me into a tight hug, his strong arms wrapping around me and Marlen and I cry into his shirt "it's Kate! He has Kate!" Mark pats my back and he says in a low tone "I know akomori, I know" I keep a close hold on Marlen and I cry,
A year has passed since then, and I stand staring at the husk of the high school it's barrien and monochrome, and it's devoted of its usual red color. I look down at Marlen who's with me, he holds a knife and stands at the ready against the crazies and I drap my arm around his shoulders and pull him close. "akomori! I'm on watch" Marlen whines and I giggle softly "it's okay don't worry too much" he breaks away and he looks around "I have to worry cus you're not" I sigh "Marlen I am worrying, but you can't spend your whole life worried and nervous" he looks up at me and then he casts his gaze down "okay," I look up and I sigh the blue sky spreads overhead and small clouds litter it the sun beats down but the chill of winter is just now leaving and I feel peaceful"Kate would of loved this" I say quietly but I don't think Marlen hears "akomori? " Marlen says as he sheathed his knife "why did we leave Kate?" My heart fills with sadness and I suck in a shaky breath" we couldn't save her, she told me to go and take you with me." Marlen sniffles "but, that might of been the end of her story, but ours." I turn to Marlen and I bend down and look him in the eye "ours contiues, and I don't plan on letting it end anytime soon"
