Chapter 7

I slept with Sophia, Carl and the morales kids in the rv that night. We're still in the rv and we're playing monopoly, we have to stay in the rv because they don't want the kids to see what is happening outside..

"Kids, it's clear now, you can play outside" Lori says to us with a sad smile. When all of s began leaving the RV I glance over to Rick and Jim they are standing by the entrance, waiting for us to leave.

I look down at Jim''s shirt and see a walker bite, that's why he looks sick. No good person deserves to die that way.

"Let's play hide and seek" Sofia suggests, "yeah" Carl agrees. "I'm not gonna count, dips!!" I say quickly, "DIPS" Carl and the morales kids say fast after me. "You all have 1 minute to hide!" Sofia says smiling. At that I begin running to the woods line, I know exactly where I'm gonna hide. In the tallest and thickest tree it was right by camp. So it wasn't dangerous.

I begin to climb up the tree to the highest branch and sit there, i can see the whole camp from this spot.

I see Rick was talking to Lori, while he has his sheriff outfit on. But he reminded me so much of someone, but I couldn't think of when or where. Then it struck me.

Me (Madi was 3) and my mom we're getting spaghetti the grocery store getting some spaghetti when a masked man walked in and demanded 20k or else he would shoot someone.

The manager said they didn't have 20k, because it was a Monday, and not many people come on Mondays. But the masked man thought he was lying and shot a random person. That random person being my mom, shot right in the head. I was standing next to her, watching as she fell down. I looked at her and kept trying to wake her up, not realising at such a young age she wasn't ever gonna wake up ever again.

The police arrived 10 minutes later, when someone who was standing outside called the police. But they we're to late to even save my mom from getting shot in the head. 'An accident' they said, 'wrong place, wrong time' they said.

When I was still hugging my dead mom hoping she would wake up, a police officer with a sheriff hat came up to me. "Is that you mom?" He asked softly,  I just nodded. "when is she gonna wake up?" I asked the sheriff. First he took my hand and placed his other hand on my shoulder then he said, my mom was dead she was never going to wake up again, she is gone. But he said it in a wayyyyyy nicer way.

"No NO NO NOOO, MOMMY, I MOMMMAAAA" I kept on screaming as the sheriff picked me up and walked with me in his arms outside.

"shhhh, it's okay okay" he said trying to calm me down, "My name is Rick Grimes, what's your?" He said trying to distract me. "M—Madison Joy-y Jam-mes" I said trying to calm down a bit. "That's a beautiful name" Rick said smiling at me, the a saw a flash go of to my left. "it's fine that just people from the news okay? It's all going to be alright"

That was the last time I heard from him, till now. Would he remember me if I told him? No that's stupid. It thought. Then I remembered that I had put the photo of the article in my backpack when shit hit the fan. Melissa had stolen a newspaper for me and we cut out the picture of me and the Sheriff (Rick). Maybe I'll show him an other time.

"FOUND YOU MADI!!!!" Sofia yells, Carl and the morales kids we're also by her side, guess I am last to be found I say to myself. "GET DOWN" Carl yells, "YEAH WAIT A SEC" I yell back. I successfully climbed the tree down.

"I win" I say grinning from ear to ear. "yeah yeah, but you we're hidden in a tree that's not fair" Carl pouts. "You didn't say anything of not climbing a tree Carl" Sofia defends me. "Let' just play a other game" Carl said, but then Lori yells for all of use to come.

When we all arrive here the adults are standing Rick says "We're leaving for CDC, it's our best shot. So pack up all of your belongings."
