His hand gripped the side of the sofa while his small legs wobbled. His eyebrows furrowed in concentration as his forehead was lined up with sweat. Slowly, he let go of the sofa which was the only support he had, and stood on shaky legs. But this was not enough. He had another goal. A big one. Thinking this, he took a shaky step ahead and tried to balance himself as best as possible. Just like this, with small shaky steps, Satoru learned to walk again.
He jerked his head up after hearing a crash and was met with his dad's shocked eyes looking at him like he was an alien.
Satoru did not know at what age babies start walking and neither did he care. He never even fit in normal standards of growth set by society in the first place so why start now.
His mom, who was behind his dad was also looking at him with shock and amazement, but unlike his father, who looked scared, his mother had excitement in her eyes.
She instantly dropped to her knees and started making encouraging noises.
"Yes Toru! You can do it baby! Come to mommy and daddy!"
Satoru did not disappoint and in no time he was in front of them. His breaths were fast due to his efforts but there was a satisfaction of accomplishment in him which was worth all the troubles.
His dad finally snapped out of whatever dream he was having and hugged him close to his chest. But it was a hug like someone was going to take Satoru away. His dad was hugging him like he was sheltering Satoru from the evilness of the world.
Seeing this strange spectacle, Misa frowned.
"Sakumo? What's the matter? Are you alright, honey?"
"Misa, he's barely 7 months and he's already walking. At the pace he's going, I fear he might be a prodigy. And you know how the shinobi world treats the child prodigies."
His mom now also looked fearful but also determined. She wrapped her arms around the both of them, with Satoru still in the middle of the cuddle fest and said. "We will protect our baby, Sakumo. We won't let anyone take him away. Nobody is going to take him away from us. Even if I have to kill someone to protect you both I won't hesitate."
Satoru was not surprised. He knew the only thing that mattered in the world was power. No matter who possessed it. Whether it was a child or an adult. He knew they would be treated as weapons. That's what he was always. A weapon. Never a human.
~~~~~~~~~~
Once he was able to walk, taking was not an issue. He didn't speak in broken sentences and pronunciation. He simply started to talk in perfect words and sentences which he was sure was creepy for everyone else. Seeing a baby not even a year old speaking like an adult would definitely be scary but did he care? No. He had bigger things to worry about. Like the books he was not able to reach right now.
In his father's study, there was a collection of books. Not too much, just some books which probably contained only basic information. At that's what he was gathering from the titles.
He stood on tippy toes as he tried to make the book fall with a stick and made a whooping noise when the book he was targeting finally fell from the shelf.
He walked towards the desk in the room and decided that he needed to read this book without getting disturbed. So he crawled under the desk. Darkness was not an issue for him because he was that awesome.
'Chakra: Basic theory and fundamentals '
That's what the cover said. He immediately opened the book and started reading.
So chakra is basically life energy that makes everything go boom and there are five natures. Also special techniques.
That was Satoru's conclusion after skimming through the book. He was curious about what the combination of Chakra and Cursed Energy would result in.
"Toru? What are you doing with that book?"
His father popped by his side suddenly.
"Reading."
"Oh? And what were you reading about, buddy?"
"Chakra."
Sakumo looked taken aback before scooping him up and taking him towards the backyard.
"You know Satoru, if you wanted to learn about chakra you could've just asked me directly."
"You're not mad that I'm trying to learn grown up stuff?"
"To be honest it does bother me a little to see you go down this path so early but I rather you learn properly from the start than do something wrong and hurt yourself. Chakra is sensitive, you know."
"Oh." It felt nice to be cared for.
"Yes. So from now on, If you want to know anything about chakra or shinobi, you will come directly to me instead of reading these outdated books. Understood?"
"Yes, sir!" He threw in a cute salute for effects but it got a laugh out of sakumo and got him a headpat so it was worth it.
Chakra has five natures:
Fire
Water
Wind
Earth
LighteningTo find out your nature, you need to pour your chakra into a chakra paper. If it gets soggy, your nature's fire. If it crinkles, it's lightning. If the paper crumbles, it's earth. If it cuts in half, it's wind and if it burns then it's fire.
People can have more than one nature which can also result in new bloodline limits sometimes. Like by combining two elements, you can make a whole new release.
It's like a real life Avatar.
Apart from chakra, another thing which grabbed his attention was dojutsu. He was no stranger to eye techniques. So he was kind of excited to meet people with freaky eyes like him.
This was the only information he got from his dad that day but he promised to take Satoru out the next day to the park so he was not that much bummed out.
Maybe tomorrow he'll finally see people with those freaky eyes like him and see if anything came close to six eyes or not.
