Renji was tired.

He had been sent on back to back missions in multiple villages and the war was still going on. And when he finally got a little free time, his old comrade asked for a little favour out of nowhere. Renji was not a teacher damnit. He didn't have the patience nor the qualities to be one. He was not even good with kids. So pray tell, why was he here to train Sakumo's little brat again? Yeah that's right. Curse his bleeding heart and his inability to say no to his friends.

He cursed and dodged another one of those blue orbs that hit the tree behind him and wow- that's a lot of destruction for a puny kid.

"Is this all you got, brat?" , Renji swiped his feet under the brat in an attempt to unbalance him and sent his shadow clone behind him in his blind spot aiming for a punch. But the brat simply jumped and turned swiftly to deal with the clone. Renji tilted his head to the side quickly as a kunai swished pass him that definitely would have hurt.

They had been sparring for about 20 minutes now and the brat was still not tired. And while Renji himself was limiting himself not to hurt the kids, lasting for this long was still an impressive feat. As the brat reached for another one of those hand signs Renji still didn't know what meant, he called out, "That's enough for now."

The kid paused and finally stood before him and looked at him questioningly.

Renji cleared his throat, "I proposed this spar to see where you stand in terms of abilities so I can see in what way should I approach this training. From tomorrow we'll start with taijutsu and then slowly go through other Shinobi arts. Now come closer."

Satoru walked forwards and Renji kneeled in front of him. He took out a brush and ink from his pocket and started to draw strange symbols on Satoru's arms and shins. 'Seals', thought Satoru in interest.

When he was done, Renji stood up and reviewed his work before channeling his chakra through the seals. All of a sudden, Satoru felt a heavy pressure on his own body. It was as if he was experiencing the force of gravity twice as much. He gritted his teeth at the sudden burden and tried his best to stay standing.

"These are weight seals. Fairly low level ones considering your size and age. From now on, wear these at all times. And when these start to feel easy, tell me so I can increase the weight. Understood?"

"Yes."

"Good. Be here tomorrow at 9 o'clock in the morning. Not too late, not too early. Now scram, I'm going to need sake now." Renji waved him away and disappeared from the forest leaving a literal 3 year old inside a forest.

'You're lucky I'm not a normal child or I definitely would have been eaten by some animal, old man. This is the man my father trusted? Oh well. His dad would know better and it's not like Renji is weak.',  Satoru sighed and started his walk back home.

(What he didn't know was, Renji actually tailed him until he saw the boy enter his house and then went to drink.)

"Good, misdirection is key. Most of the times your opponents are going to be bigger than you so take every advantage  your leaner build gives you and focus on maintaining a stable mind. Trust me, a stable mind during fights is very hard to achieve and even veterans lose their mind once they face someone they can't understand. Also, make sure you appear difficult to understand. Fighting is not only physical but also mental. Try to fuck with them psychologically."

Satoru nodded as he tried to get his breathing under control. They had just finished a very intense sparring session and Renji didn't even look out of breath meanwhile Satoru was panting like crazy. He hated this weak body. He knew he was strong and knew some kick ass techniques but this weak body was holding him back.
