We were all sitting in the Great Hall. I was in my graduation robes, along with Roger and Marcus. I smiled. I did not find Diggory there. I heard he'd been shifted to St. Mungo's at early morning. Good, at least, he'll recover now.
"Today we acknowledge the absence of someone who should be present here, especially for his graduation from Hogwarts. Cedric Diggory was, as you all know, exceptionally hard working, infinitely fair-minded, and, most importantly, a fierce, fierce friend. Now, I think, therefore, you have the right to know exactly why he almost died. You see, Cedric Diggory was murdered... by Lord Voldemort. But fortunately, our school Healer, Madam Poppy Pomphrey found a rather charmed necklace around his neck. She says, it's the necklace that absorbed the curse, but barely from the jaws of Death. He has been transferred to the St. Mungo's for Magical Maladies and Injuries, today early morning. We hope he recovers to full health soon. The Ministry of Magic does not wish me to tell you this. But, not to do so, I think, would be an insult to his battle. Now, the pain we all feel at this dreadful absence of such a wonderful event reminds me, and reminds us, that while we may come from different places and speak in different tongues, our hearts beat as one. In light of recent events, the bonds of friendship we've made this year will be more important than ever. Remember that, and Cedric Diggory will not have almost died in vain. You remember that, and we'll celebrate a boy who was kind, and honest, and brave, and true, right to the very end...... and from now I hope our students have embarked a new journey of their lives. But remember Hogwarts shall always be a home open for those who wish to return. And I am pleased to announce, that Miss Alexia Potter has been assigned the new assistant Transfiguration teacher, substitute teacher, and school coordinator for the coming term." We all clapped as we threw our graduation hats in the air.
