The sad reality of life

Ash was now on his way to the pokemon school with pikachu and rotom. When they made it they saw tauros charging charizard.
Ash:What happened here?
Y/n:Mr hothead and charizard spooked Tauros when they landed.
Kiawe and Sophecles looked agitated at this as kiawe turned his attention back to the fight. That was until a midday lycanroc leaped into the air and broke up the fight. The  pokemon belonged to a women who was wearing a stone necklace and z ring with other accessories came out.

???:Please calm down Tauros charizard didn't mean to spook you.
She then kissed the bull which made it calm down while everyone apart from Y/n were astonished who was focused on something else entirely.
Y/n:You're the Kahuna of Akala Island, Olivia. Right?
Olivia turned around to see the Galar native and his Meowth.
Olivia:Hello there.
Ash:That is the akala island kahuna!
Y/n:Yep. Kukui showed me photos of the Kahunas for each island.
After that they then get in the classroom, Olivia introduced herself and showed the heroes the rocks she had collected, which dazzled everyone by their beauty. After meeting up with Samson Oak, Olivia greeted everyone's Pokémon and met them, and was even touched by the story between Ash and his Litten. Afterwards, Olivia explained the facts about Akala Island, and was impressed that Ash knew the island's guardian was Tapu Lele. With everyone ready, the class boarded on the ship and sailed off to Akala Island. As they were sailing, Olivia noted how Lana had a lot of knowledge about Water-type Pokémon, as Lana explained she loved many Water-type Pokémon. Suddenly, Olivia fell off the ship, but invited others to join her in diving. Ash came with her and they both found many Water-type Pokémon. However, they also found a Wailmer, stuck between rocks. Ash and Olivia could not take Wailmer out, and Olivia noticed the Wailmer was actually attacked by a Bruxish, who used psychic powers to control it. To stop Bruxish, Olivia had her Lycanroc fire rocks, which made Bruxish angrier and emit sound waves. With Rock Slide, Olivia's Lycanroc made Bruxish retreat. With the threat gone, Ash, Olivia, Kiawe and Lana dived in to rescue Wailmer, who started sinking. With Sophocles and Mallow joining in to help, Olivia had Wailmer consume some medicine to make it feel better. Olivia was happy Wailmer was cured, while others saw how amazing Olivia was. At evening, everyone arrived to Akala Island's pokemon center.

During this time, Y/n was distancing himself from the group. The classmates who still had motives to hate him thought of it as him being an anti social jerk. But Ash and Lillie thought of something different. They actually went up to him.
Y/n:Hey, what's up guys?
Lillie:Just wanted to check if you were ok.
Ash:Yeah, you just looked a bit off.
Y/n:It's just that Olivia would be our next opponent for the grand trial. That means I have to formulate plans against her. So far, I just know about Lyca-
He is distracted by a sighting on the beach. A group of men are punching and kicking a pinniped pokémon that is primarily blue. She has large eyes, a long, white snout with black whiskers, and a round, pink nose. There is a small, rounded earflap on each side of  her head. Around her neck is a light blue ruff, which extends past its shoulders. She has four flippers. The front flippers are larger than the hind and have white markings separating her toes.

Y/n:Hey!
Y/n jumps into the ocean and swims towards the beach. The class and adults all gasp. Y/n arrives on the beach with his partner as he rushes to the group of men. Y/n swings an arm at one of them to clear the view as horror films him. The popplio on the ground had her blood splattered on the ground as the result of a Lurantis and Weavile who clearly dug their claws into the pokemon.
Y/n:Leave her alone!
Thug1:Oi brat, for your own good piss off!
In response Y/n punches the man in the face. Before the others could react all of Y/n's pokemon escape their balls and begin to pummel the men to the ground. Y/n grabs Popplio through the conflict, cradling the water type in his arms.
Y/n:I got you. Don't worry.
The pokemon tries to speak but no sound comes out, blood pooling out from the hole in her throat.
Y/n:Don't speak. Rest. I will help you. Guys let's go!
The group of pokemon are finishing their assault on the two pokemon with Ace finishing them with an ember. They run off, Chaplin lending a hand with freeze dry that lays a path for them to slip on. Back with the class they finally arrive to catch the tail end of the conflict. They see a pool of blood on the sand and the men beaten to a pulp. They see Y/n running off and without a word Ash and Kiawe leap off the ship and run to Y/n.
Kiawe:What the hell was that?!
Y/n:I got no time for your thief crap alright.
Ash sees Popplio in his arms.
Ash:What happened to her?
Y/n:Those guys back there. Their pokemon did the damage to her throat and their fists to her body. I have to rush her to the pokemon center.
Kiawe:Wait.
Y/n:What?!
Kiawe gets a poke ball and releases Charizard.
Kiawe:Take Charizard to the pokemon center. It will be much faster.
Y/n is silent but still mounts Charizard to
head in the direction of the pokemon center.

Time skip
We see Y/n and Plagg sitting in the waiting area of the pokemon center. The class arrived along with Kukui and Olivia. The kahuna sits next to Y/n who has remained silent the whole time.
Olivia:You did a good thing. I called Jenny and she arrested those guys. Apparently, they are part of a large scale pokemon trafficking group. That Popplio was one of many pokemon they captured. She is in process of getting them all.
Y/n:That's good. But...
Kukui:You won't be happy unless Popplio is ok.
Y/n nods, petting Plagg's fur for comfort. Nurse joy finally comes out of the room, small patches of blood on her apron. Y/n springs up and walks up to the nurse.
Y/n:How is she?
Nurse Joy:She'll live. However, the attacks to her throat tore out her voice box. She can't speak out.
The group's hearts all drop to their stomachs.
Nurse Joy:However, I conducted a layrngectomy. It will take time but she should be able to speak. The procedure left her with a mechanical voice box alternative for pokemon. This makes their voices almost robotic like. For pokemon like Popplio who rely on their voice for attacks the voice box is designed to change frequency in correspondence with the attack.
Y/n:Can I see her?
The nurse nods and leads him into the room. When the doors slide open they see Popplio on the hospital trolley. She is up on her flippers but the most noticeable feature was the metallic collar around her neck.
Y/n:Is that the voice box?
Nurse Joy:Yes. As I said it differs completely for pokemon. The voice box is magnetic and the collar is used to hold it in place. Pokemon battles can be dangerous for those with disabilities so most have some sort of magnetism used to hold them in place.
Y/n crouches down to Popplio.
Y/n:Hey. Are you ok?
Popplio nods with a yip, nuzzling her head against the hand Y/n places on her head.
Nurse Joy:Y/n.
Y/n turns to face the nurse.
Nurse Joy:Popplio is going to need somebody to help her through this. I know this isn't right for me to spring this on you but..
Y/n:I was going to ask if I can be the one to help her. I don't mind. Is that ok with you?
Popplio gives a happy yip, the robotic influence of the voice box showing itself. Y/n gets a friend ball that Kukui gave him and gently presses it. The pokemon is materialized into red light and absorbed into the poke ball. The ball doesn't shake before singing. Y/n sends the pokemon back out as she leaps into her arms.
Y/n:I give all my pokemon nicknames,  to form a bond with them. How do you like the name Ariel?
Ariel responds happily to that name. Y/n then uses his rotom phone, a device he stole from home as a plain phone that is powered up by a rotom that Kukui provided, to check out the stats for his newest friend. She has the hidden ability Liquid Voice, most likely the reason that those thugs took her. She knew the following moves.
Ariel:
Water gun
Hyper voice
Sing
Icy wind
Y/n:You are amazing, Ariel. I promise to do my best with you.
