"So you got into a pissing match with Scott?" Jennifer says tactlessly into her phone speaker. "Again?"

Derek, whose eye roll can be heard through the phone, huffs. "You're crude, you know that? And it wasn't a pissing match the first time."

"You're not denying that this time was." She hums, turning to peer out the window of her bedroom. Hailey wasn't home— she hardly was— so the girl wasn't too worried about talking so loudly with Derek. Neil wasn't there either, leaving her to her own devices.

"Can we focus?" Derek gripes, his shuffling footsteps heard through the other line. "This Alpha is really starting to piss me off."

"Only now? Not when he killed your sister?"

The werewolf on the other line scowls, fighting the urge to obnoxiously hang up on his only friend. Rather than succumb to the pettiness brewing in his chest, Derek sighed and ignored her comment. "He's collecting werewolves for some type of... pack. I don't understand why he would pick a teenager to start it but it shows that he certainly wants to grow his power."

"Do you think he's going to try and turn more teenagers? Turn this place into a real wolf den or something?" Jenny asked, her eyes on the street below her window. She felt watched.

"Maybe. I think he's just trying to build power."

Jenny turns, her eyes skimming across the street with a hesitant look on her face. "Okay, I hear you, and I'm listening— but I think somebody is watching me so I'm not really listening."

Derek's anxiety spiked, his body coming to a halt at her words. "What do you mean, you think somebody is watching you?"

"Like— I know somebody is out there but I can't see anything." Jenny jerked the curtains shut and hurried back to check the front door. Once she was sure it was locked, she retreated back to her room. "The doors are locked, so I'm fine. I just feel weird."

"Do you want me to come over? Where's Hailey?"

"No. She'll be home soon, she's out with Scott and Stiles again."

Derek hummed, wary of letting Jenny be at home by herself but he knew she would put up a fight if he offered to come over so he sighed heavily and wiped a hand down his face. "Are you sure you'll be okay?"

"I'm sure." She told him softly, sliding onto her bed with her lip between her teeth. "Hey, what are you even doing right now? I can hear you like walkin' about outside of your house?"

"Looking for the Alpha."

"Oh, shit, well have—" Jenny wasn't able to finish her sentence as the phone cut off, static meeting her ears. "Rude. Okay."
