It had been 4 month, I was fully healed and prepared to get on with my life. This new year went by quickly, it was like every time I blinked there was a new month.

I was finally able to work in the shop again. Princess wouldn't let no one else touch her hair to the point where she would come to my house just to get her hair done. I was finally ready to drive again also.

The door made a noise as I entered the mechanic shop.

"Wassup baby" Ry'mone greeted me.

"Hey Ry'mone, Can you give my car a lil check up?" I said.

Ry'mone looked outside at my car that was parked.

"Damn, what happened to it?" Ry'mone eyes shot out.

"I got into a little crash" I said.

"Little?!" Ry'mone exclaimed.

"I can see what I can do, but it might not be fixable. You drove that thing here?" Ry'mone said.

"Yea, it's definitely drivable, but I can't be driving around like that. If it's not fixable then I'll just buy some new shit" I shrugged.

"You should've just started with that" Ry'mone said.

"You know that's my baby" I smacked my lips.

"Why I can't be yo' baby?" Ry'mone questioned with a playful pout on his face.

I only rolled my eyes and sat down in the waiting area.

Ry'mone had a crush on me since I moved out here and visited his shop for the first time but he knew he never had a chance.

The door made the same noise it always does when someone walks in, which made me look up.

"Brent?" I questioned the familiar face.

"Jae! Wassup girl" Brent came over and gave me a hug before sitting down beside me.

"Damn, do you live under a rock? I ain't seen you in forever" I exaggerated.

"I been back and forth in New York, you know I love traveling" Brent chuckled.

"Oh I know" I nodded.

"How you been?" He asked.

"I been good, living, you know" I said.

"That's wassup, you should really come out there in New York with me" Brent said.

"I could use a break from LA" I said.

"I'll think on it" I spoke again.

"Alright, let me go see what they talking about with my oil change" Brent said.

"Alright, it was nice talking to you" I said as we shared a hug again.

Brent was one of my homeboys when I first moved to LA, we would see each other only 3 times a year seems like. He was a mixed boy, mixed with white and black. He stood at a solid 6'0 with brown curly hair along with matching brown eyebrows. He had a very masculine body type since he stayed in the gym.

Time went by and Ry'mone came back.

"Baby, whew, that car can be fixable but it's definitely gon' charge ya'" Ry'mone said.

"How much?" I stood up with my arms crossed.

"A lot" Ry'mone nodded.

"Can yall keep it here until I decide what ima do?" I asked.

"Technically we can't but I can keep it here for you" Ry'mone said.

"Okay, thank you Ry'mone" I said as I walked out the shop.

I started to walk to my salon since it was on the same street as the mechanic shop so it wasn't far.

I walked into the salon full of people. It was my first time in the salon in a while. I looked for Yanise while only seeing the temporary employees she hired. I did a double take when I saw Nyaring talking to a client and doing a nail set.

"What the fuck" I mumbled as I continued to look for Yanise.

"Oh shit, Hey Jae!" Yanise said in excitement as she got up from her station to give me a tight hug.

"What is Nyaring doing here?" I questioned immediately.

"You missed so much girl" Yanise sighed.

"Yea, cause I ain't talked to you since the day I went into the hospital" I stated.

"And I'm sorry about that but I was trying to keep this place together for you" Yanise shook her head.

"And I appreciate you for that, now please answer my question" I crossed my arms over my chest.

"She took us to court, well me since you couldn't make it. And court decided since she owns 35 percent of this place and although we aren't cool, she can work and make money here still if she'd like to" Yanise explained.

I only shook my head at this news that was new to me but had already been going on for 2 months.

"We've just been ignoring each other honestly but I almost knocked that bitch head off her shoulders a few times" Yanise nodded.

"Why you here? You can work again? Yo' clients been missin' you girl, literally been leaving out since you wasn't here" Yanise spoke again.

"I just came to stop by but I can get back into work if it's needed" I said.

"Only if you're up for it" Yanise said.

I nodded and walked to my station which was covered in flowers, care baskets, snacks, and more.

"Damn, I wasn't on my deathbed finna die damn" I said as I moved all the stuff off my station and into the workers break room.

"Is Kouraje here?"

"I'm right here" I said as I looked up to be met with Catolina.

"Are you taking walk ins today sweetie?" She asked and I nodded.

She made her way into my chair.

"That sew in you did last time, lasted so long" She complimented.

"I want to try some old school box braids" She said.

"Any certain length?" I asked.

"I'd like them bob length" She said placing her hands at where she'd like the braids to stop.

I nodded and immediately got to work. The salon was more louder than usual with the extra employees. Catolina and I talked upon each other, I was more comfortable with her and she wanted to hear my story from when I was younger. She wanted to hear all of it and I told her all of it, all the way up to when Vance randomly called my phone the other day.

The conversation felt normal.
