Once again, boredom settled over them as they floated in the pool, staring up at the night sky. The initial excitement of swimming had worn off, and now they were left with the uncomfortable silence of having nothing to do.

Ben sighed, "Well, this is a buzzkill. No WiFi, no fun."Marcus floated by, looking contemplative. "Yeah, it's like we're stuck in a 90s horror movie or something. No connection to the outside world.""Maybe we should just call it a night," Melanie suggested, her voice echoing slightly in the stillness of the night. "I mean, we've already done truth or dare, hide and seek, and now swimming. What else is there?"Justine paddled to the edge of the pool and rested her arms on the ledge. "We could always tell ghost stories," she said with a mischievous grin.Amara shuddered. "No thanks. Those rules we found earlier already freaked me out enough."Alexander nodded in agreement. "Yeah, I'm with Amara on this one. Plus, without our phones, we can't even play music or watch movies."Jacob tried to lighten the mood. "Well, at least we're all together, right? And it's kind of nice not being glued to our screens for a change."Everyone murmured in agreement, but the feeling of boredom lingered. They all floated there in silence, looking up at the stars, feeling the chill of the night air start to seep in. "We should head inside before we all turn into popsicles," Justine finally said, breaking the silence. They reluctantly climbed out of the pool, dried off, and made their way back into the house. They huddled together in the living room, trying to come up with something to do that didn't require the internet."How about we make up our own games?" Justine suggested. "We could play charades or something.""Charades sounds fun," Ben said. "At least it'll keep us entertained."With a new plan in mind, they gathered around, ready to make the most of their night, despite the lack of modern conveniences.

However, as the hours dragged on, even their makeshift games failed to hold their interest. The reality of their isolation settled over them, and a heavy silence filled the room.Justine stretched and yawned, her eyes drooping with exhaustion. "I'm beat. Maybe we should just go to bed.""I second that," Marcus said, getting up from the couch. "Let's call it a night and hope tomorrow is better."Everyone nodded in agreement, their spirits dampened by the relentless boredom. They headed to their respective sleeping areas, hoping that a good night's rest would bring a new day filled with excitement and activity. But as they lay there in the dark, the sense of unease from the strange rules and the eerie quiet of the lake house gnawed at the edges of their minds, making sleep elusive.

Justine's eyes fluttered open as she heard a faint sound, like distant cracking echoing through the house. At first, she thought it might be a figment of her imagination, a product of her restless sleep. But as she lay there in the darkness, straining to listen, the sound grew louder, more distinct.Curiosity piqued, Justine sat up in bed, her heart pounding in her chest. She glanced around the room, but the other girls were still fast asleep, their soft breaths barely audible in the silence of the night. With a mixture of trepidation and determination, Justine slipped out of bed and tiptoed to the bedroom door.As she crept down the hallway, the cracking sound grew louder, more ominous. Justine hesitated for a moment, her hand hovering over the doorknob that led to the basement. Should she investigate, or would it be better to wake the others and seek safety in numbers?Ultimately, curiosity won out over caution, and Justine slowly turned the doorknob and descended the stairs into the darkness below. Each step sent a shiver down her spine, the cracking sound growing louder with each passing moment. She reached the bottom of the stairs and paused, her heart pounding in her ears. The basement was shrouded in darkness, illuminated only by the faint glow of the moonlight filtering through a small window. Justine strained her ears, trying to locate the source of the sound. And then, she saw it – a series of cracks running along the walls, as if something was trying to break through from the other side.Fear clenched at Justine's chest as she backed away slowly, her mind racing with thoughts of what could be lurking on the other side of that wall. Should she wake the others and flee the house, or stay and investigate further? Whatever was causing those cracks, it was clear that their night was about to take a terrifying turn.
