Melanie turned to Ben, her face pale with fear. "We need to call for help," she said, her voice trembling. "But the Wi-Fi is out."

Ben nodded, pulling out his phone. He tried dialing the emergency number, but there was no signal. "Nothing," he said, frustration and panic creeping into his voice. "We can't get through to anyone."

Melanie bit her lip, tears welling in her eyes. "We can't just stay here. What if something happens to us next? We've got to find a way to get help."

Ben looked around the room, trying to think of a solution. "Maybe there's a landline somewhere in this house. Or maybe if we get to higher ground, we can get a signal."

They began searching the house frantically, opening drawers and cabinets, hoping to find something—anything—that could help them contact the outside world. But their efforts were in vain. The house was eerily silent, and the oppressive atmosphere seemed to close in on them with each passing moment.

Ben sighed heavily, running a hand through his hair. "This is hopeless," he muttered. "We're stuck here."

Melanie shook her head, determination flashing in her eyes. "No, we can't give up. We need to find a way out of this. We'll try to get to higher ground like you said. Maybe then we can get a signal."

Feeling the need for a break, Melanie turned to Ben. "I need some air, some time to clear my head. I'm going to sit by the lake for a bit."

Ben nodded, understanding. "Just be careful," he said. "Don't go too far."

Melanie walked outside, heading towards the lake. She found a spot near the water and sat down, closing her eyes to the gentle sounds of nature. The cool breeze and the serene environment helped calm her nerves. She began to reflect on the memories of happier times with her friends, hoping it would provide some comfort.

Suddenly, she felt a strong push from behind. Her eyes snapped open, but it was too late. She plunged into the lake, the cold water shocking her system. She struggled to swim, but before she could call out for help, something latched onto her leg. Panic surged through her as she realized she was being pulled under. Piranhas swarmed around her, their sharp teeth tearing into her flesh. She thrashed and fought, but it was futile. The water turned red as they dragged her down, the last bubbles of her breath breaking the surface.

Back in the house, Ben waited anxiously. The minutes ticked by, and Melanie didn't return. He started to worry, knowing that something was terribly wrong.

Ben's heart raced as he sat alone in the dimly lit room, the weight of fear pressing down on him like a suffocating blanket. He couldn't shake the feeling of dread that had settled over him since the moment they arrived at the lake house. Now, with his friends gone, he was truly alone, the silence of the empty house echoing around him.

Every creak of the floorboards, every gust of wind rattling the windows sent shivers down his spine. He felt like he was being watched, like something sinister lurked in the shadows, waiting to pounce. The memory of his friends' gruesome deaths played over and over in his mind, tormenting him with the realization that he could be next. But he was paralyzed by fear, unable to muster the courage to investigate. What if whatever had killed his friends was still lurking in the darkness, waiting for him? The thought made his blood run cold, and he huddled in a corner, his eyes darting nervously around the room.Hours passed, and still, he remained frozen in place, his mind consumed by terror. He couldn't bear the thought of facing whatever horrors awaited him outside the safety of the room. But as the night dragged on, the gnawing fear of the unknown grew stronger, driving him to the brink of madness. Finally, unable to endure the suffocating grip of fear any longer, Ben made a decision. With trembling hands and a racing heart, he forced himself to his feet, steeling himself for whatever horrors lay ahead. He knew he had to face his fears head-on if he had any hope of surviving the night. With one last deep breath, he took a tentative step forward, his mind filled with dread and uncertainty.
