The next morning
I wake up in my bed, unsure of what happened. I start to feel my head pulse and pound so I hold it with my hand and start to sit up.
When I sit up, I see a man sleeping on my floor with a small blanket on him, making me jump.
I have no clue who this man is.
He then wakes up and stretches, sitting up a bit and looking around to see me.
"Oh shit," he says turning his body to me, "sorry to scare you. Good morning".
"Who the fuck are you?" I yell at him, grabbing the first thing I see, my lamp.
"Oh, shit, I apologize. Last night you got drunk and I drove you home".
"So...you slept in my apartment?" I ask him, looking at him. Is he crazy?
"Well, I didn't mean to. I just," he says pausing and then standing up, "I just wanted to make sure you were okay through the night".
"Oh, well, thanks. Next time, definitely don't stay in the apartment," I say looking up at him a bit, "what even is your name?".
"It's Vic, uh... Vic Fuentes. And you're Julie, right?".
"Yes, god, I can't just tell strangers my name like that... Wait, Vic Fuentes?".
"Yeah, why?" he asks, looking down at me."Nothing, just sounds a bit familiar, I don't know".
Vic chuckles. He looks down at me and slants his eyebrows slightly, confusing me.
"Is something wrong?" I say.
"No," he says, "sorry, nothing wrong".
"You should go soon," I say getting up.
When I stand up, I lose my balance a bit and trip onto him. Vic catches me as I bump right into him.
"Woah, be careful," he says, his hands on my arm and shoulder to keep my balance.
"Sorry".
"It's okay," he says smiling at me a little bit, "yeah, sorry about that, I'll go".
As he heads for the door, he opens it and starts to leave. But I suddenly hear his voice.
"Uh, hey, really quick,"
"What?" I say turning to him.
"Do you think... maybe I can get your number?"
"Oh! You're serious? Oh um... sure, I guess. Give me your phone".
I give him my number and his phone back. He puts it in his pocket and slightly smiles at me.
"Do you uh, want me to put your number in my phone? So I know it's you when you text?"
"Oh, yeah, sure, sure..."
He puts his number in my phone, then I bring my phone down to my side.
"Thanks, see you around," Vic says.
"Yeah," I say. Watching him slowly start to walk down the stairs.
I shut my door and locked it. I look around my room and exhaustingly start to pick it up.
That scared the living hell out of me. This is why I don't drink, because one wrong move and I give a serial killer my address.
What the fuck just happened? Thank god I'm not dead. I've never met anyone who sleeps in a stranger's home.
I look over at my mattress, a blanket over the slit, and fluff all over the floor, "God, I need a new mattress now."A couple of hours later
I stare at my phone as I block Henry on everything I have. Also checking to see if Vic texted me yet.
I'm not begging for a text, but I just... Hope for one?
No. Not hope for one, definitely the wrong word. He scared me to death and I don't know him at all. But, he WAS kinda cute. I cannot lie to myself."Um yeah, do you know what time that mattress will come in?".
"It usually takes about a week or two. But we will update you in the meantime," the guy on the phone says.
"Okay, thank you," I say as I hang up.
I put duct tape on my mattress and a new sheet that was in my closet. That'll do for now.
I suddenly hear a knock at my door, so I get up and open it.
"Oh, hello, Connie!"
"Hi, hun. How's everything going?" she says.
"It could all be better," I say widening my eyes as I speak.
"Oh, how so?"
"Well, Henry's out of the picture, and I needed to buy a new expensive mattress".
"Oh, I am so sorry, Julie! I've always thought he looked a little... Bummy for you".
"Yeah," I laugh, "he most definitely is".
"Well, I was just checking on you. If you want to stop by I'm always down there".
"Thank you, Connie!".
I shut my door as she walked back down to her apartment.
I stare at my phone, opening Vic's number.
Should I text him first? I wouldn't wanna seem weird. I mean, I barely even know him, not even barely. And he probably will forget about my number soon enough. Hopefully, wouldn't it be bad if he waited all day to text me? No matter how cute someone is, you never know if they're messed up in the head.
My fingers start to type, "Hey" on my phone. And soon, it sent.
Now I have to wait. God, now why did I have to text him first like that? I don't even fucking know him! Am I that desperate? He obviously won't remember who this is, or ME even... I don't know.
I hear my phone beep, with a message pop up on my phone saying "Hey!".
Oh my god, it was him.
"I meant to text you earlier, but I had to pack my stuff. And I didn't wanna scare you more than I already did".
I pick up my phone and open the message. Here we go...
