Eyes Of Darkness

Ashley has been living abroad for the past two years, pursuing her studies of becoming an expert in medicine.

While she loved her new life and opportunities it brought, there was always a part of her that longed for home. She missed her family especially her parents, her only younger sister Tayna and her boyfriend who've been with her but left a week earlier.

As the two year mark approached also her 18th birthday, Ashley found herself growing more and more excited at the thought of finally reuniting with her loved ones.

She couldn't wait to see their faces, hear their voices, and feel their warmth embrace once again. The anticipation built up inside her, joy, nervousness and a touch of anxiety.

Finally the day arrived, Ashley's flight landed in her temporary hometown Ciudad Bolivar, and as and stepped off the plane and made her way through the airport, her heart face with excitement.

She could hardly contain her emotions as she walked through the arrival gate, scanning the crowd for familiar faces but as she made her through the bustling terminal, she realized they were no where to be found.

Panic began to set in as she frantically searched for any sign of them. After what felt like eternity a man approached her, holding a sign with her name on it.

"Are you Miss Wood? Ashley wood?"

He asked. Confused, she nodded, wondering who this stranger was and why he was the one waiting for her.

"I'm your driver, Mr. Wood sent me to take you home"

The man explained leading her to a waiting car. Ashley's heart sank as she realized her family didn't come to pick her up themselves.

She couldn't understand why, could it be after those 2 years her father still only cared about work? What about her mom and tayna or Marshall her boyfriend.

As the car pulled away from the airport, Ashley's emotions were a whirlwind of dissapointment, confusion and hurt.

"Miss Wood your family wanted to be here but something came up"

The driver said

"Its ok"

Ashley said.

It was an hour drive, the car finally arrived at her home, Ashley stepped out, her eyes scanning the familiar surrounding.

It was them, she saw them with employees and staff, there was a welcome home banner.

Tears welled up in Ashley's eye as she ran towards them, enveloped in a group hug that made her whole again.

"Welcome home Ms.Wood"

Fans staff and neighbors said in unism. Ashley father was a famous Architecture in Cuidad Bolivar after they moved there from Paris the land of their birth, now her father own large farming lands and factories and employed many workers.

In that moment she knew no matter how they had chosen to greet her their love for was unwavering and unconditional. And that was all that truly mattered.

The family dinner and their jokes never gotten old, Ashley felt complete and content with everything.

All tired and sleepy she made her way to her room only to meet with a deep hug from her boyfriend Rhys, he kissed her forehead and tucked her blonde hair behind her ear.

"I missed you so much babe"

He whispered while looking into her eyes.

"I missed you too, what is it?"
