Alex struggled to focus, his vision blurring as he fought against the overwhelming darkness. Every breath was a labor, every movement a struggle. But he knew he had to recite the Oath. It was their only hope.
"I s-solemnly pledge..." Alex began, his voice weak and faltering. He clenched his paws, trying to push through the pain.
"To stand as the shield against... the encroaching darkness," he continued, his voice barely a whisper. The words seemed to fight against him, but he pressed on, determined.
"To safeguard the realms... and the cherished souls within," Alex said, feeling a slight spark of energy. He could see a faint light around him, giving him a sliver of hope.
Cresselia, lying next to him, began to stir as the light reached her. "Alex... keep going," she urged, her voice filled with newfound strength.
Alex gritted his teeth, forcing the words out. "To mend the rifts of despair... and bring forth the light of hope."
The glow intensified, bathing them both in its warmth. Alex felt his strength slowly returning, piece by piece. He continued, his voice growing steadier with each word.
"Though my heart aches with the weight of sacrifice," he said, the pain in his heart palpable, "I will bear this burden to ensure a brighter tomorrow."
Darkrai watched, an expression of annoyance crossing its face. "This is ridiculous," it muttered, but Alex ignored it, focusing on the Oath.
"To serve and protect, that is the sacred duty of the Savior of the Multiverse," Alex recited, feeling almost whole again. Cresselia stood beside him, her strength fully restored by the light.
Alex took a deep breath, the final words flowing out with renewed vigor. "Even if it means bidding farewell to the world I've grown to love."
The light around them exploded in a brilliant burst, engulfing them completely. Darkrai shielded its eyes from the intense radiance. Alex and Cresselia stood tall, their energies fully revitalized, their determination unwavering.
Darkrai's smirk faded, replaced by a look of genuine concern. "What... what is this power?" it muttered, feeling a chill run down its spine.
Alex stepped forward, his eyes locked onto Darkrai. "This is the power of hope, the power of the Savior," he declared. "And we will not back down."
The battle was far from over, but for the first time, the tides had begun to turn.
Alex, now standing tall with renewed strength, took a deep breath and began to recite the Oath once again, his voice clear and unwavering.
"I solemnly pledge to stand as the shield against the encroaching darkness," he declared, feeling the energy surging through him.
Darkrai, observing the scene, grunted with irritation. "This is starting to feel like some cliche powerup from a cartoon," it muttered under its breath, rolling its eyes.
Alex continued, undeterred by Darkrai's mockery. "To safeguard the realms and the cherished souls within, to mend the rifts of despair and bring forth the light of hope."
The light around Alex and Cresselia intensified, illuminating the area with a radiant glow. Cresselia's eyes shone with determination, her strength fully restored.
"Though my heart aches with the weight of sacrifice, I will bear this burden to ensure a brighter tomorrow," Alex recited, his voice growing stronger with each word. The light now surrounded both him and Cresselia like an unbreakable shield.
Darkrai sighed, its annoyance evident. "How predictable," it grumbled, but there was a hint of unease in its tone.
"To serve and protect, that is the sacred duty of the Savior of the Multiverse," Alex proclaimed, his resolve unshakable. He glanced at Cresselia, who nodded in solidarity.
