Seraphina Potter. Seraphina. Not Freak nor girl but Seraphina, learned very early in her life that staying quiet always saved her from getting into trouble. Nobody liked smart kids and definitely not the Dursley family. Her aunt's blue eyes albeit a different shade than her own seemed to glimmer with hate whenever she looked at her. So she made sure to stay far away from her aunt and uncle, avoiding her cousin that seemed to love hunting her down but Seraphina was fast and small and most of the time she managed to escape without a scratch on her. It was why most of her time either spent at library getting lost in the books there or hiding in her cupboard where she fantasized about her parents coming back and rescuing her from here because these two were the only place that none of the Dursley ever stepped into.
It was a small reprieve from her everyday life filled with menial tasks from cooking even if her hands got burned or she hurt herself to cleaning the house no matter if the house was cleaned by her in the morning anyways. Aunt Petunia claimed it was to turn her into a girl from a half wild beast. Sometime when things got too much, in the quiet of her cupboard, she imagined killing her aunt and uncle to finally be free of them to run away but Seraphina squashed that idea down quickly.
It was these quiet musing in the cupboard that Seraphina found out that she was different. She could do things like someone some food from the kitchen when she was hungry and hadn't eaten in three days or grow her hairs back after her Aunt Petunia had butchered them calling them weird and unnatural. Though the best thing about whatever she had, had been the quick healing the beating that Uncle Vernon gave her never gave her any scar and the wounds were usually healed in three or four hours unless he used belts than they took a day or two to heal but something was better than nothing.
It had in the library when she had stumbled upon the book 'The Hobbit' that she had dubbed what she did as magic.
It had made her wonder initially if she really was the freak that her Aunt Petunia called her but the kids around her age pretending to be wizards and witches had quickly squashed that idea. She had something that most kids around her age wanted to have that made her special right? So what if it was freaky? It was hers. The warmth under her skin has always been there for her, healed her wounds and if it was something that made her different from others it couldn't be that bad right?
Though Seraphina learned quickly that the best thing that she could do was keep her head down and not get noticed, never ahead of her peers and never behind just enough to stay perfectly in the middle. It helped to an extent but then again people generally stayed away from the too small girl with glowing blue eyes, pale skin and a scared eye. And if she was noticed she was quick to smile as charmingly as possible to prevent them from looking too into the situation because question usually led to beating and Seraphina didn't want it to become worse than it already was.
Yet a letter, a letter on her 11th birthday changed everything.
Seraphina had woken with a wince. The stunt at the zoo had gotten her quiet the beating and even though the worse had been gone the feeling of needle prickling her skin especially the wrist remained. The loud banging of her cupboard door enough to wake the dead had her body springing up before she could even think. Thankfully she was small enough that even sitting she could comfortably sit in the cupboard without her head touching the ceiling of the cupboard otherwise it would have hurt quite badly she reckoned.
She had quickly gotten out of the cupboard and made her way to the kitchen and gotten to work taking a small portion of bread and some last night left overs to eat at the table. Seraphina scarfed down her food quickly not willing to lose it. She hasn't eaten in days and Seraphina was hungry. So it was quiet understandable why Seraphina was so annoyed when she was demanded to go see the mail thankfully she was almost done with her food anyway. Though that annoyance had quickly melted away when Seraphina had spotted a letter addressed to her, a letter from Hogwarts a school for witchcraft and wizardry to Seraphina Von Potter and wasn't that shocking because Seraphina didn't know that her full name was that and she might have even believed it was addressed to someone else if not for the very specific address.
