--- MARYAM SHEIKH ---

"Ladies and gentlemen, please be seated. Our flight is ready for departure."

I never thought I would be heading home before the winter holidays. Around me people were shifting in their seats, taking out their ipads, basically preparing for a 6 hour long flight.

I looked over at my phone one more time after I texted Fatima I got onboard. There was nothing left so I switched it off. But the minute I did, I heard a small
'ping' which meant I got an Instagram notification.

It was a message request from zd.moaz.

zd.moaz : hi maryam, just wanted to apologize for calling you...you know..that word...that day. I hope you forgive me. Heard your flight's today. Have a safe journey.

Woah! Zaid actually texted me??? How did he even get my id-

"I'm sorry, ma'am but your gonna have to turn off your phone," said a flight attendant who had on very bright red lipstick. "We're about to take off-"

"Yeah, I'm so sorry but let me just," I kept fumbling with my phone to text something. I had to type in quickly because the flight attendant seemed to really tempted to snatch my phone away.

mae.arwa : hi

I know, it was so lame. And I'm immediately regret sending it when I activate airplane mode before switched my phone off. I sunk low with my sleeves covering my face. Luckily I got the window seat. I eagerly look outside then my thoughts turned reverse.

I can't do this.

Even though I've went through a ton of flights throughout my college years I still can't breathe normal when I get onto one.

"Aziz! Go get Baba! Mama has fainted!

I could still feel Mama's cold touch on my sweaty palms when she looked at me adoringly. For the Last Time.

"Ya Allah, Laila my noor, wake up! Laila dear wake up."

A lot of people has crowded around our seat. Attempts to regain her consciousness were going on.

I  sensed something salty on my lips. I was tearing up so bad. Aziz was staring at me like, "Shut up, you idiot. Don't you see Mama's dying?"

"Excuse me, but is there something wrong?"

I heard a deep voice near me. A pair of beautiful blue eyes were staring into mine. I brought my gaze to the floor and assured him,

"Yeah, I'm quite alright," I said, trying to appear calm.

"I'm sorry, but you're apparently sweating heavily and your panting as well," he said, not believing me at all.

"Pardon me if I may ask, are you aerophobic?

"W-what?"

"Fear of Flying," the stranger said coolly. "People who have aerophobia experience persistent and intense anxiety when they think about flying or when they travel by air."

My mind couldn't process all of this information at once but I nodded if I understood everything. He had a very strong London accent though I couldn't quite admit it he was British.

The plane was started moving forward. I clutched tightly to my armrests. Tears were forming in my eyes.

"Baba, there's blood!"

"Move aside everyone, here's the doctor."

"When did she begin........any medications....a queer case of......we must contact the hospital.....immediately.....her blood sugar levels are dropping..."
