Just three weeks after Marcial Bacques signed a three-year contract with the Denver Yetis, center Marcial Bacques entered the player assistance program. The Yetis published a statement on their social media on Monday that the veteran center has entered the program and will be gone for an indefinite amount of time. The Yetis clarified that they'd support Bacques during his time in the program and were eager to welcome him back on the ice.
Neither the Yetis nor Bacques have clarified why Bacques is entering the program. However, it is likely it has something to do with why the center was rushed to the ER last week. We still do not know why he was rushed to hospital, but it is likely that the two events are closely tied. Fans also speculate that this has something to do with the sudden change in personality this past season. Towards the end of the season, Bacques found himself as one of the main residents of the penalty box in nearly every game he played.
Bacques signed a three-year contract with the Denver Yetis on July 12th after playing seven seasons with the Indianapolis Cardinals. Bacques said in a statement that he would deeply miss the Cardinals, including the fans, management, and players. However, he states that he's eager for a fresh start and is happy to join the rising team in their division. The new start likely was not supposed to include the player assistance program.
