Chapter 4

1st person

"Oh sorry, didn't know I was such a nuisance."

Looking up, I saw a relatively tall person and light green hair. Oh great! The exact person I did NOT want to see right now...

"NONONOno I um... I've just been having a weird day I mean I'm sure you have too- Ugh sorry I'm rambling, aren't I?" I hung my head in embarrassment after I was finished talking and just got laughter in response. "I guess I should tell you my name now, right?" I mumbled, trying to find a way out of the awkwardness I just put myself in.

"Sure, if you please" Rantaro teased.

Looking back up at him, I said the catchphrase I'll need to say about 14 more times later. "My name is y/n l/n, and I'm not sure what my ultimate is, but I know I have one."

"Well, that sure is interesting, I have the same dilemma as you..." he said suspiciously.

"Oh r-really?" Did the stutter have to come back at this exact moment?! WRONG TIME STUTTER!!!! "That's a weird coincidence... And uh your name?" I needed the subject to be off of me right now, even if I already knew his name.

"Definitely, my name is Rantaro Amami. I can't remember my Ultimate at the moment... But I promise, I'm not a bad guy. Nice to meet ya." I could just imagine the graphic appearing in front of me. "So you don't know what your talent is, huh?" Focusing my attention back on Rantaro, I mustered up the best lie/excuse I could think of.

"Yeah haha... I guess I got the worst of the amnesia we all seem to have." Hopefully, that can get me out of this awkward conversation with the most suspicious person in this game. 

At least that's what I thought until he wore a guarded expression and spoke slowly, 

"What do you mean 'we'?" ...shit.

"Oh uh y'know I woke up in this weird room actually in that locker over there funnily enough  and when I fell out I was all confused until another girl fell out on top of me and-

"y/n..."

-It kinda hurt but then another guy popped out of the last locker over there and we all started talking until these weird bears showed up-

"y/n!"

-and they told all three of us that there were more ultimates in this school and stuff and then they went away and eventually Shuichi and Kaede left too-

"Y/N!!"

I stopped rambling when he screamed my name and took a huge gulp of air that I didn't even know I needed. "Sorry, I got carried away. All I meant to say was that I woke up here with two other people and they had the same type of memory loss I had." I need to keep a clear head around him or else I'll keep rambling and reveal something I shouldn't.

A beat passed and Rantaro looked like he was thinking hard about something. "You said the two people that were in here with you; their names were Shuichi and Kaede right?" In fear of rambling again, I just nodded and let out a hum of agreement. "I happened to pass by them on the way here but they didn't say anything about you... any reason why?"

"They didn't mention me? uh no I don't know why that would be-" Suddenly I had a thought that made me stop my sentence. Wait... unless Kaede was taking control of the conversation, which makes sense because Shuichi is a lot quieter and insecure in the prologue... But why wouldn't she mention me? Is she jealous? Of what? "Hey Rantaro, weird question but who was talking the most in your conversation?"

"Now that you mention it, Kaede seemed to take control of the conversation and barely let Shuichi talk, especially when I asked if they had met anyone yet." 

Well, that confirms my suspicions, I just wish I knew why. At that point, they would've had to go past at least Tsumugi to get to Rantaro so did Kaede mention her instead?

"Yeah I don't know why she wouldn't mention me I mean, I was the first person she saw when we both woke up for crying out loud!" As I was trying to figure out Kaede's omission of me Rantaro dropped a bomb on me.

"What if that's the reason." 

"huh?"

"You said that you were the first person she saw when she woke up right?"

"...yeah."

"So maybe that's why she didn't mention you; she's suspicious of you!" He paused after seeing my apparently confused face. "I mean if you woke up in a place with no idea where you are or how you got there, and you see someone standing over you you're immediate thought would be that this person kidnapped you right?" 

"So Kaede thinks that I'm the person who put us all in this strange school?! Seriously?!" As hard as it is to believe, it makes the most sense. "So who else have you seen?"

"You're the last one, I figured I'd do a check around the school for good measure and sure enough I found a straggler" As he said that, he brought his hand up and gestured in my vague direction which made me laugh a little. "You seemed pretty mad when I walked in, wanna explain a little?"

I paled at the memory of yelling at Rantaro. "Yeah sorry about that, the monokubs visited me before you came in and as I assume you know, they can be pretty annoying" He gave out a small chuckle and was about to say something before-

DING DONG BING BONG

"Speak of the devil..." Ignoring Rantaro's comment, I looked up at the monitor to see what these demons had to say...

ANDDDD another cliffhanger bc I can't remember what they actually say for the life of me and this chapter is making me go crazy also.... MY MOM WALKED IN WHILE I WAS WRITING THIS AND ASKED ME WHAT I WAS WRITING- AND THEN SHE SAID "CAN'T WAIT TO READ IT" OMGGGGG BROOOO...
