Chapter 9

You had rested for the past two days, and it was now Tuesday, twelve more days until Christmas. You could move your arm around but it was still heavily bandaged. Currently you were lying down on the floor on top of a large, thick, fuzzy blanket; headphones over your head as you listened to song after song.

Ludwig had been really busy lately, but he checked on you at least every single hour. Sometimes Gilbert tagged along. One time Gilbert had snuck in and started teasing you, but Ludwig caught him and that was the end of that.

No more visits from Gilbert.

There was a soft knock on the door.

"You do know the door is unlocked!" You shout through the loud music blasting into your ears.

"Well, I didn't want to-"

"There are like three rooms, this one, my bedroom, and restroom. The chance of you seeing whatever was going through your head while I know the door is unlocked is highly unlikely."

"You seem to have recovered." A small smile dances on your lips as you pause the music.

"Yeah, it'll be awhile before I can take the bandages off though. They might be off before Christmas." You smile at the German, that was sort of a lie. You recovered quickly, to be honest, your arm was fine the next day after the attack.

Ludwig stares at you for a bit before looking away, scratching the back of his head in a nervous fashion. You smile, at least he stopped blushing at stupid things.

"Yeah, speaking of Christmas. Gilbert, Father, and I were going to go get a tree-do you want to come?"

"Sorry, but I don't feel like going anywhere today. Make sure to bring back a large tree though. I'll help you decorate it."

"Oh, sure. Well, I was wondering if I could have your number in case anything comes up."

"Ask Gilbert for it, he stole my phone and switched contact info."

"Gilbert has your phone number?" Ludwig snaps. You turn around shooting him a sly smile.

"Look who's jealous~"

"You're messing with me."

"Yup, just tell Gilbert for me too. It's (phone number)" You repeat it twice and Ludwig nods after he puts it into his phone.

"Okay, stay safe." Ludwig mutters. He was still scared that you were going to do something stupid. The police hadn't managed to catch the men who had attacked you; you think Ludwig thought you would go after them yourself.

That wasn't going to happen.

"Okay, bye, please don't get lost or anything."

"Be careful." He repeats, shutting your door slowly. You lay there in silence for a few minutes. Hearing the roar of a car taking off you turn the music back on and wait a few more minutes after that.

Finally getting up, you pull out your box that held your supplies. Pulling out your camera and a pair of black gloves you head towards the closet. Opening it you head towards the right hand corner. Getting down on your knees, you slide on the gloves and sling the camera across your shoulder, flashlight in your hand.

Taking a deep, shuddering breath you force yourself to focus. This felt wrong, but still, you had to do something to help your brothers.

Even though it felt like you were betraying them.
