The halls of Hogwarts were abuzz with the usual chatter as the students prepared for their final year. Harry Potter, now more determined than ever to enjoy a peaceful school year, walked towards the Great Hall with Ron and Hermione. The trio had survived the war, and now it was time to focus on their studies and future.

As they entered the Great Hall, Harry's gaze instinctively sought out Draco Malfoy. The Slytherin was seated at his house table, surrounded by his usual entourage. Draco had always been a thorn in Harry's side, but something had changed over the summer. The animosity had faded, replaced by a quiet understanding.

Harry shook his head, trying to dismiss the thoughts of Draco. He had more pressing matters to attend to. Just as he was about to sit down, Professor McGonagall's voice rang through the hall.

"Attention, students! Before we begin our feast, I have an important announcement to make."

The hall fell silent, and all eyes turned to the Headmistress. McGonagall's expression was serious, and Harry felt a twinge of unease.

"This year, we are implementing new protocols to ensure the safety and well-being of all students. As part of these protocols, we will be conducting a mandatory magical assessment for all seventh-year students."

Whispers erupted among the students, and Harry exchanged a puzzled look with Ron and Hermione.

"The assessments will take place over the next week," McGonagall continued. "You will be called individually to the Headmistress's office. That is all."

As the students returned to their conversations, Harry couldn't shake the feeling that something significant was about to happen. He glanced back at the Slytherin table and noticed Draco looking unusually pale.

The next day, Harry was one of the first to be called for the assessment. The process was straightforward, involving a series of spells and potions to measure magical aptitude and overall health. It was all routine until the potion master, Professor Slughorn, frowned at one of his vials.

"Curious," Slughorn muttered, examining the vial closely.

"Is something wrong?" Harry asked, his heart pounding.

"No, nothing to worry about," Slughorn replied, though his eyes betrayed a hint of concern. "You're free to go, Mr. Potter."

As Harry left the office, he couldn't shake the feeling that there was more to these assessments than they were being told.

Later that evening, Harry was in the Gryffindor common room with Ron and Hermione when the door swung open, and a flustered-looking Draco Malfoy stormed in. The room fell silent, and all eyes turned to the unexpected visitor.

"What do you want, Malfoy?" Ron snapped, standing protectively in front of Harry.

Draco ignored him, his gaze fixed on Harry. "Potter, I need to talk to you. Now."

Harry felt a mixture of surprise and curiosity. "Alright," he said, standing up. "Let's go somewhere private."

They left the common room and headed to an empty classroom. Once inside, Draco turned to Harry, his expression a mix of anger and fear.

"They know," Draco said, his voice barely above a whisper.

"Know what?" Harry asked, confused.

Draco took a deep breath. "They know I'm an omega."

Harry's eyes widened in shock. "What? How?"

"The assessment," Draco replied, running a hand through his hair. "The potion they used. It revealed my status."

Harry felt a surge of anger. "How could they do this? It's a violation of privacy!"

Draco nodded, his eyes glistening with unshed tears. "I don't know what to do, Potter. If this gets out..."

"It won't," Harry said firmly. "We'll figure this out. Together."

Draco looked at him, a flicker of hope in his eyes. "Why are you helping me?"

"Because it's the right thing to do," Harry replied. "And because I know what it feels like to have your life turned upside down."

Draco gave a small, grateful nod. "Thank you, Harry."
