Two days later and we're still walking in the great wilderness. I'm tired, I'm so tired.
"This is exhausting."
"It is. We're halfway there."
"That makes me so happy."
He nods. "Me too."
The sun starts its walk home. The moon comes out for her shift.
"We've known each other forever."
"Not even close."
"Well, a long time."
"Nope."
"Oh."
"There's a city ahead."
I stop staring at him or the ground for once and look ahead. Indeed, there is a city. It has the signature tall and skinny buildings.
"How do you think the humans make such tall buildings? Shouldn't they fold in half and fall over?"
"Must have used strong materials or something."
"What if they have their own magic?"
He shrugs. We walk towards the city. Hopefully this one has water too. A hotel, maybe nicer looking buildings.
We walk past all the giant houses that are spread out from each other; some are very far away. The city part with all the tall buildings is really far away. Why is this so annoying?
I put my hood on and put his hood on him. He turns towards me, mystification all over him.
"You seem nervous when the humans look at us. With the hoods, we look more like them, so they won't stare."
"You think?"
"I do."
I swing our arms as we walk to this land that never approaches us. It stays away like we're bad. I just want to sleep. Sleep away all this pain, drown it in the back of my mind.
"What do you want to do when we get there?"
"I don't care."
"I didn't ask if you cared or not."
"...Find another hotel?"
"Okay."
Once the moon has fully risen, actually late into the night, we finally make it into the city. The weird light poles that are too tall light up the dirt on the unevenly colored street. The air is nice as it doesn't move, under the clear sky. For some reason, there's only a few stars in the sky. Where did they go?
We walk through the semi quiet streets as the humans' cars are moving around. Who thought of cars and why are there so many of them? Down many, many of these streets, we finally find a... motel? I turn around.
"Want to go there?"
"Where?"
I point at the motel.
"What is it?"
"The sign says motel. I think it's a mini hotel."
"Sure."
We walk to the weird-shaped building with many doors. Why are all the doors on the outside? Which one do I go to? Do they each lead to other hallways? This is so confusing. Why would humans build such a confusing contraption? It's even uglier than the other buildings.
A hand is wrapped around my waist, and I'm pulled to his side. I look at him, only to see him zoned in on something else. I look in the same direction and see a group of tall, shadow covered figures on the other side of this space for cars. They're facing us.
"How about somewhere else?" I whisper.
He nods before pulling me away. There's talking from the group, they're not saying nice things, most of it is blurred together and incomprehensible. As we walk down the ugly street, glass breaks by the group of humans. We walk away faster.
After going through more quiet streets, we finally find a hotel. It is not very tall but wider. It has pretty gardens in front of it.
We walk into the brightly lit room of marble in tiles, making the floors and a simple chandelier in the air lights up the room.
I walk us to the tall counters where the lady is. She's wearing these pretty glasses and hitting the noisy buttons that are connected to the mini television. She looks down at me when we stand on the other side. I do the usual hand signals that the humans usually don't understand.
She hands me a card. "One fifty."
I turn around to Sylvian. "I need two red papers."
He hands them to me; I give them to the lady. She goes back to the mini television. We go room hunting. All These stupid symbols. Why couldn't they color code the doors? Or put butterflies or flowers on each one? This building would be prettier. It's alright for a night, I guess.
We finally find the room and instead of exploring, sleep. Sleep is important. Still the most important and time-consuming thing to do, besides breathing. I take the stupid shoes off and hop in the bed.
"You better not sleep with all them' knives wrapped around you."
He groans before taking them off and getting in the bed.
"Did you take off your shoes?"
"Yes. You're not my mother."
"I am today."
He flicks my nose before lying on his stomach.
I roll over and look at the night sky through the windows. We should go to bed in the dark more often. The humans' lights are evil, like their marshmallows.
*Le sleep time skip, once again.*
Tis been a long night... no it hasn't. The sun is blinding me, begging me to wake up. I don't want to get up. This bed is decent and there's this warmth next to me as I hang halfway off the bed. My hand is on the floor. It's trying to get away from the wedding.
I look to my left and see white, fluffy hair. He's laid against me, his arm across my stomach and his face pressed into my shoulder, by my neck. His horn is against me too, all the little ridges. Oh, my goodness. He's so adorable.
I take my arm from under the pillow and wrap it around his back as carefully as I can. The sun is shining onto his already gorgeous self, making him look ethereal. I cannot move, I shall not, for, this is all too perfect. The first time there's been tranquility on this whole expedition.
The content on his face, the first time since I've known him. I take his pillow, he obviously isn't using it, and use it to block the sun. He doesn't need to turn red.
The air is sweet and quiet. I look around the room for the first time and notice the brown planks of wood making zig zags in the walls, the white ceiling. The floor matches the walls. Across the bed is a television on a table and a small desk to the right of it. By the entrance door is a small room with tall, crystallized glass doors. It's cute here.
Fingers tap on my right side, by my ribs. His fingers drum on my side for a short while till there's nothing. He suddenly sits up, his back towards me.
"I'm sorry..."
A/N: They're cuteeeee. How are y'all?
