-Author POV-
Yn crouched in the dimly lit alley, his breath forming small clouds in the chilly evening air. His mind was a turbulent sea of thoughts, each wave crashing into the next with relentless force. It had been two weeks since he had run away from the foster home, and the freedom felt both intoxicating and suffocating. The loneliness was the price he paid for the fleeting moments of autonomy. His dark eyes scanned the area as he moved with the silence of a shadow, every step calculated, every sense alert. He had just pocketed a few items from a convenience store—a habit from the days when hunger gnawed at his insides and survival was his only concern. The old habits died hard, even though he now had more control over his abilities. The long, sharp claws that could extend from his arms were a constant reminder of his difference, his otherness. He flexed his hand, watching as a single claw slid out with a faint metallic sound, sharp enough to easily cut through flesh and bone."Impressive."
The voice startled him, and he spun around, claws at the ready. A woman stood at the mouth of the alley, her features sharp and striking, her eyes a piercing blue. She moved with a grace that spoke of confidence and danger. Yn's instincts screamed at him to be cautious, but something about her intrigued him. There was an air of mystery and power around her that he couldn't ignore."Who are you?" he demanded, his voice rough from days of disuse."My name is Mystique," she replied, her tone smooth and authoritative. "And I know a lot about you,yn."He narrowed his eyes, the claw retracting slightly as he assessed her. "How do you know my name?"
She took a step closer, her movements deliberate and non-threatening. "I know more than just your name. I know about your abilities, your past, and your current predicament. I also know you're tired of running."Yn felt a cold chill run down his spine. This woman, this Mystique, seemed to see right through him. "What do you want?"Mystique's lips curled into a knowing smile. "It's not about what I want, yn. It's about what you need. You're a powerful mutant, bre wasting your potential by hiding and scavenging. I represent a group called the Brotherhood. We could use someone like you. Someone who understands the struggle, the pain of being different."He studied her, the offenses both tempting and suspicious. "Why should I trust you?"
"Trust is earned, not given freely," she acknowledged. "But consider this: with the Brotherhood, you would have allies, a place to belong. We can offer you training, resources, and a purpose. You wouldn't have to be alone anymore."Yn's mind raced. The idea of not being alone, of having a place to belong, was irresistible. Yet, he had learned to be wary of easy promises. "And what would you want in return?""Your loyalty and your skills," Mystique replied without hesitation. "We fight for a world where mutants don't have to hide, where we can stand strong together. Join us, and you can be part of something bigger than yourself."
Yn: And speaking of the brotherhood, do they have a guy named Quicksilver and the blob on this team, you see, at one point, I was minding my own business and they decided to harass me...I told them to piss off but they didn't listen, so they jump me into the alleyway, Quicksilver use his speed to throw punches at me, then the fat guy blob use his body and squeeze me flat...but 30 seconds later I recovered with my healing factor and we were about to fight again....but the xmen leader stop us.
Mystique glanced at yn, a glint of amusement in her eyes. "Yes, Quicksilver and the Blob are part of the Brotherhood," she confirmed, her tone calm and matter-of-fact. "And I'm not surprised by their behavior. They can be... overzealous at times."
Yn's jaw tightened as he recalled the encounter. "They didn't seem to care about anything but trying to show off. Quicksilver was a blur, and the Blob—" He shook his head in frustration. "He just threw his weight around. Literally."
Mystique nodded, her expression growing serious. "They have their faults, no doubt. But they are also powerful allies. Quicksilver's speed and the Blob's strength are assets to the Brotherhood, despite their rough edges."
