Many Years Before
You stumble out of the dark rouge room and see Daddy throwing papers toward Mommy. "I hate this! How many days? How many people have we saved and what do we get. We get called Monsters."
You walk downstairs and play with your strings. "I know Hun, but we have a daughter now. The heroes will take her from us if they catch us. We must protect her." You cough sickly as your mother looks at you.
"Oh, she's getting worse."
You start crying. "Mommy. Are we bad people?" Your mother wipes your tears. "In ways. But you're following our footsteps. Heroes are the villains."
"Mommy you're my hero." Your mother grins as the heroes bust through the door.
Daddy rushes to them using his dangerous quirk. Mommy runs me to my room. "Honey, we'll be back."
"Promise?" You wipe your snot on your sleeve.
She looks at you before smiling. "Promise." She disappears.
A promise they never could keep.
