Again, Hawks

For weeks it was like this. I never got any texts except from Hawks asking if I still wanted to train. I didn't feel like it. I received two texts from Hitoshi asking how I was and if I wanted to go to the dance this weekend, but I was practically banned from the school. So, I declined.

It was an early Thursday morning; I was pouring cereal into my bowl when Hawks was peeking through the window. "What the hell are you doing?" I asked spilling some frosted flakes onto my pajama pants.

"You haven't answered my texts for weeks. I get it. You're upset at me but I-" I shut the window. I wasn't going to hear him. I wasn't upset. Midnight was actually nicer than I had originally thought and living with her these past few weeks have made me feel better.

"Go away Hawks." I mouth to him, pouring the milk into the bowl. He opens the window somehow.

"Y/n. Principal Nezu was talking about the dance that you better not show. So, if by any means you show up you could end up in jail. There's no way for us to bail you out." So that's why he came over.

"No need to be a worry wart. I won't be attending." I put the cap on the milk container and stuck it in the door of the fridge.

"Really? Because kids have been asking around at the school if you were to show. Some think your dead." I laughed. Some thought I was dead. I mean besides the whole amber alert did they not alert I wasn't missing to be started with?

"Don't worry. I'm relaxing." I kicked my feet into the chair across from me, eating my frosted flakes.

"Ok."

"When is the dance?" I question out of curiosity. He narrows his eyes.

"Tomorrow." He eyes me. "I am serious, Y/n. No dance. We can't risk them seeing you."

That was a threat, not a risk. And it not only made me want to break the threat but made me thirsty for a school dance. Only because they said no. I was always a challenge. A hard one to beat. I could work with it.

"Eye eye captain." I saluted him before waving and locking the window. He flew away after watching me for some time.

I was watching a romcom on my computer near 8:55pm when Midnight busted in with a mask, and a stunning black lace dress in hand. The dress was princess mafia like. Gorgeous.

"Y/n, between me and you. I've done some thinking. A girl can't possibly not go to a school formal without ever witnessing a dance in a beautiful, exquisite gown and mask." She was basically bouncing on her toes.

"The schools dance? Is it across the world or... because I don't know if you heard, nada. I am not allowed to go to the UA school at all." She put her pointer finger in my face.

"Enough! The theme is Masquerade nobody will notice you. I was thinking a wig-" My mind was spinning; a pro hero was helping me break the one rule I wasn't supposed to break.

"What happened about the rules?"

She smirked. "Not all heroes can always be good all the time." She winked. That made me smile for the first time in weeks.

"Go try it on. Tonight, we watch movies and eat cookies. Then tomorrow, you go." She plopped onto the couch. I ran into the room. This was bad. If I tried it on, I'd be breaking the rule. What if this was a temptation test. Then she'd catch me lacking. I decided to say it didn't fit and pretend to be bummed out.

"It doesn't fit." I tossed the dress down beside her.

"Then tomorrow we'll go dress shopping." She was so persuading.

"What if they come to check on me tomorrow when I am at the school?" I sit up straight on the couch.

"Then, I'll create a diversion saying you were sound asleep that I used my quirk on you. If they want to see I'll say Hawks saw you on the couch and made sure you were just a passed out cat." She clapped her hands. "It'll be a sealed deal."

Right. "Ok." I smiled. This was going to be thrilling.

We stayed up until midnight. She had fallen asleep near one. I was wide awake in bed looking up at the ceiling. Now that a pro was telling me to go do the one thing I was going to. I didn't want to do it anymore. Yeah, it'd be a challenge of secrecy but I wanted to be the only one who knew. I pulled the covers off of me. It was 1:23am to be exact. I needed some rest if I was doing it. I closed my eyes.

Tap.

Tap.

The window was rasping. I turned my lamp on to see Hawks. "What?" I whispered opening my window. He crawled in.

"I knew you'd be awake. You are nervous and full of regret. You're only up till one like this." He crossed his arms and sat on my bed.

"No, you're wrong." I closed my window.

"Yeah, then why are you awake?"

I couldn't answer him because he was right. He always was. "I had to pee and I just came back." Then it hit me. The lie Midnight said last night. "I might pull an all-nighter so I can sleep all day today."

He nodded. "Mhm, that's so... unlike you. Has Midnight said anything weird?" He tilts his head inspecting me.

"No, only if she has a grin plastered on her face indicating, "I am the most happiest person alive" then does that count?" He laughed at my statement only for me to shove my hand against his mouth.

"Shh, if you wake Midnight I swear."

"Yu swarm wat?" He murmured against my hand.

"I swear I'll rip your wings off and throw them for the pigeons to eat."

His eyes were almost bulging. I released his mouth to be free.

He rubbed his jaw. "You don't have to be so harsh. Gosh."

I yawned. I don't think I could pull an all-nighter tonight. "Any who, good night, Hawks." He nodded.

"Good night, Y/n." He flew right into the window. Birds am I right? Guess it's true, they're one big bird brain. I waved. "The window is closed." He grinned stupidly, taking off once opening the window.

Genius.
