If Liang Ziheng hadn't planned to woo her, he wouldn't have told this to Lu Jialan. And so in the end, Xia Rou was notified of his intentions before he had even started.

Xia Rou didn't know if it was fate, but she didn't want any relation with him at all. She was also loathe to alert Cao Yang to this matter and have him start paying attention to Liang Ziheng.

She wanted to use Lu Jialan as a messenger to convey her rejection, but Liang Ziheng obviously had not gotten the message.

After her class ended on Friday, she prepared to go back to her room to tidy up. The drama club didn't have any activities planned for the weekend, so she could go home.

Just before the dorms, she saw Liang Ziheng speaking with Lu Jialan. When he lifted his gaze, he saw her easily and patted Lu Jialan's shoulder. Lu Jialan turned back to look at Xia Rou, looking unwilling but still going back upstairs.

Then Liang Ziheng made his way to Xia Rou.

"Xia Rou," he said, smiling as he called out.

Her roommates had gone to the cafeteria, but because she was planning to return home to eat, she had come back to the dorms alone. She heard him call out, so she had no choice but to slow down.

"Xia Rou, do you remember me? I'm Liang Ziheng, Hu Chen's cousin brother." In order to avoid another repeat of Xia Rou's "I don't recognize him," he first emphasized his name.

"Need anything?" Xia Rou asked. Translated by The Novelst

Liang Ziheng didn't understand why Xia Rou would be so cold to him. In his memory, he recalled her being quite friendly to others. Could it be because his family background wasn't good enough?

But he had also gotten along with other rich girls in the past, none of which had treated him so coldly.

"That... Lu Jialan is my cousin. She's the girl who had a misunderstanding with you last week," he smiled. "Last time I mentioned your name to her, so she misunderstood my thoughts and caused the both of you to have an unpleasant experience. I have already spoken to her so I hope you don't mind."

Xia Rou nodded. "Alright."

Liang Ziheng choked, but reacted quickly enough to smile, "Then that's good. I'm relieved."

"Then... Xia Rou, are you free tomorrow? Let's have lunch. I'll make it up to you."

"No need. It was just a small misunderstanding," she said. "If there's nothing else, I'll be leaving."

Xia Rou's rejection was within Liang Ziheng's expectations. He had even already prepared the words he would respond with. But somehow, he couldn't get them out. He felt that the atmosphere between them was kind of strange.

Since he didn't speak, Xia Rou nodded briskly and turned to go upstairs, leaving Liang Ziheng rooted where he stood, staring at her shrinking figure.

Her roommates were still in the cafeteria, so she returned to her room and sat at her desk, hearing people walk past in the hallway past the closed door. But inside her room it was so silent it was scary.

Xia Rou spaced out for a while, slowly using her hands to cover her face...

Liang Ziheng, huh... She still remembered clearly. It was him who caused her death.

But he was also... the man she had wanted to marry in the past...

Initially when she had just rebirthed, she would fall into a rage every time she thought of him. Fury at his betrayal, at his use of her as a tool, and most of all, the way he would look at her as though she had a problem.
