The scrolls of the Maesters hold history of every Targaryen ever born. From the short history of the Doom of Old Valyria to Aegon's Conquest, the Long Reign of King Jaehaerys to the Dance of The Dragons.
Though there is one story that filled the pages much longer than the rest.
The story of Princess Valaena Velaryon.
You'd think her story started when she had been born, but how wrong that was.
No, her story had started from one egg.
And the story started when Prince Daemon visited Princess Rhaenyra at the Red Keep all the way from Pentos in 115 AC.
Rhaenyra Targaryen, daughter of King Viserys first of his name, heir to the Iron Throne, had been with child for 8 moons the day Prince Daemon entered her chambers unannounced.
"Uncle, what brings you here?" The princess asked as her hands rested on her bump, her attention that had been out the window now directed to her uncle.
He entered the room slowly with a smirk that some might mistake it for mischievousness but Rhaenyra could see that he was delighted. "Do I need reason to visit my niece?"
"Your wife-"
"Knows that I'm here." Daemon's eyes lingered to her belly before making eye contact. "It's the reason I've come." He explained as he pulled an object from his satchel.
Rhaenyra eyes the black dragon egg he held out in front of him. It wasn't unusual for dragon eggs to be seen around but this egg was slightly bigger than the rest. Daemon wouldn't be able to have any eggs unless-
"Vhagar..."
He walked over to the cradle that shall be for her newborn child. "Yes, Vhagar."
"But your child-"
"Vhagar had two eggs. Which is more than we ever assumed she would have at her age." Daemon stayed lingering near the egg. "One is with Laena for our child and we wanted you to have this one since yours is due in-" He trailed off uncertain.
"One moon from now."
He smiled. "Congratulations are in order."
"It's very much appreciated." She smiled back before scrunching her eyebrows in slight discomfort.
"Shall I get your husband?" Daemon asked glancing around seeing no sign of Laenor but saw the lingering gaze of Harwin Strong outside the door through the crack.
