The family settled themselves at the long dining table, it was no surprise to see greens and black separated. At the head of the table sat Valaena beside Lucerys, while at the opposite end of the table were both Aelon and Aemond.
Aemond was across Lucerys while Aelon across Valaena, both of them seemed uninterested as they didn't speak and didn't stare at anything in particular. Valaena wondered if there was still tension between the two brothers.
Aelon was nearest Otto who sat beside Alicent, Valaena was near Daemon who was next to her mother. Nearest to Luke was his betrothed Rhaena while Jace sat beside his betrothed Baela. Aegon sat between both Baela and his wife Helaena who was nearest to Aemond.
Valaena glanced around realizing that both her sibling and cousins were to be wed while she was still unmarried and did not have a betrothal. She smirked glancing down at her plate realizing that she was lucky until her mother decided to marry her off to some Lord.
The dining table was overloaded with a feast of food. Candles flickering all around even between plates of meat and vegetables, everyone sat in silence as the servants walked in with more delicacies. Alicent sat upright tensed as her gaze adverted anywhere but on Rhaenrya, who turned her head glancing at Alicent for a second before turning her head forward.
Valaena sighed knowing this entire supper would be her agony, Daemon refilled her cup of wine giving her a knowing expression that they would not be able to get through the entire dinner with their sanity intact.
She gave him a gracious look before taking a gulp of her wine wincing at the bitterness.
Alicent's chair was the first to scrap against the floor as she stood up when the King entered, everyone else mirrored her actions. They all waited until the Kingsguard lowered him between Rhaenrya and Alicent filling the space before they sat once again.
Viserys looked around the room with a content expression. "How good it is..." He croaked out. "To see you all here, together. " He looked over to his wife, Alicent, and then to his daughter, Rhaenyra with a small smile.
"Prayer before we begin?" Alicent asked.
"Yes." He whispered back.
Everyone joined their hands together and lowered their heads as Alicent began to pray. Everyone except for Daemon and Valaena. Her mother opened her eyes and gave Valaena a knowing look so she huffed closing her eyes. "May the Mother smile down on this gathering with love. May the Smith mend the bonds that have been broken for far too long. And to Vaemond Velaryon, may the gods give him rest."
